View Full Version : Weekend Chat!
Janice 04-14-2007, 03:57 AM Happy Weekend everyone! My weekend got off to a fantastic start because I talked to Brad (Little Mel) on the phone last night for hours, lol. Talk about burning up those telephone lines. He's just a blast to talk to, and such a good friend with a sympathetic ear, even if we were both falling asleep towards the end. :sleep2:
I have no plans today, other than ordering take-out and relaxing. My stepson may come by later with his kids for dessert. I hope that happens.
Hey kids, TJL here.
Well, it's early in the AM on Saturday, I just got back home from the Gaf.
Things were a little quiet tonight, just hung around with my friends, watched the Yankees lose and collected my doorman fee at closing time - working tomorrow night as well.
Not much planned for the weekend; I'm probably not working next week at my regular job so I'll probably take it easy, plus my Ladyfriend is out of town so no dating stuff is on the horizon until next week, I will keep you posted...
I might hit up the Auto Show tomorrow, but since there might be a noreaster hitting the big apple on Sunday, I might just go to the store and get some supplies and ride out the rain. We have a bunch of DVDs courtesy of blockbuster online for me and my roomie to watch, so maybe I'll have a DVD review to work on.
Yeah, not very exciting I know, but somebody has to do it...
;)
Kazza 04-14-2007, 05:18 AM Is it Saturday already?
I know I am up and getting ready for my 5-2 shift; been working so much that I can't keep track of the days of the week anymore.
swedeace 04-14-2007, 10:22 AM Good morning on this fine Saturday morning! It's currently 8:14 a.m., and I have had such a long and full past week! It's all based on good stuff, so I am happy! :D Another full weekend ahead, it seems....
Today I just plan on cleaning up in the morning and then working for five hours in the afternoon. After work, my sister is having her very first Mary Kay facial demonstration party; therefore, I have recruited some friends. Some said they might go, and others said they weren't sure. I hope she has some people coming so she can go forth with it. She wants to sell it, so I don't want her to get too discouraged if a lot of people don't end up going.
After the facial party, I was invited to go up to our state capital of Santa Fe for my boss' daughter's night club grand opening tonight. She's the manager of this night club, and they're having this opening act, Tobias Rene. Anyone know him? Anyway, this club is about 45 minutes north of my city. I do, but I am very nervous about driving through the highway in the dark! I wish I could go earlier in the sunlight, but I can't because of my sister's facial party.... There's no way it'll be out before 8:00 p.m. if it starts at 6:00 p.m.! If I do end up going, she knows of hotel rooms across the street for $40 to stay the night and then drive back during the day instead of driving back all the way home through the highway, but I don't know about spending money. I'm trying to save up money.
Needless to say, I am very intimidated to drive through a highway. For one thing, I would pass through a scary area where it seems to be cursed with so many car accidents. I also don't know whether to take my sister or not (for company while driving). I hate taking her to outings with my co-workers because then I can't let my hair down and be myself. Ugh!
Yes, I am freaking out! What does anyone recommend? Any tips? Or, advice? I would LOVE any input before this evening. Thanks!
PZelda 04-14-2007, 11:29 AM I spent a dreadfully boring evening at my paternal grandparents' house last night... Oh man, it was BORING. I'll be going to an uncle's house for dinner later on tonight, so hopefully this time there'll be more people at his house.
In a little while, my mom and I have to go take our dead DVD players to this place where the city is holding their annual electronics recycling center. After that, I believe we'll be going to Barnes & Noble. :)
I've been having some serious issues with my right wrist as of late. Last weekend, it was really painful... it was like that, on and off, this week. Now my wrist is rather stiff today. :( (I sprained my right wrist twice, in 2001 and in 2005, so now I have trouble with it) Looks like I'll have to be using my wristbrace today. Bleh. By the way, here's the post I made (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showpost.php?p=2484193&postcount=3163) after I came home from the ER in '05.

How does your husband feel about that?-lol Just joking, Well Today I going to a Steak House in Jersey to eat dinner with my Family so I'm looking forward to that. Tomorrow will be laundry day
Number 9 Dream 04-14-2007, 11:57 AM Another typical Saturday for me! :) I have work from 2:30-10, but thankfully this is my last shift for the weekend, and I can enjoy the next two days off before it starts all over again. We're expecting a Noreaster tomorrow, so I'm probably just staying in and doing some homework.
Last night was fun, though...I shopped at the mall for a few hours and brought home some cool stuff (perfume and make-up, mostly).
freshprinceofLA 04-14-2007, 12:20 PM I've been usually busy on saturdays but today nothing. I'll find something to do.
Janice 04-14-2007, 12:29 PM How does your husband feel about that?-lol Just joking, Well Today I going to a Steak House in Jersey to eat dinner with my Family so I'm looking forward to that. Tomorrow will be laundry day
My husband's cool, lol. It might be a different story if it was someone closer to my age. Not sure. I'll tell you, I wouldn't be as understanding. That would be the day that I'd let him talk on the phone with a female of any age. Double standard, but I don't care, lol.
Enjoy dinner with your family Solomon. It sounds like fun.

YOU GO GIRL!!!!! I hear that. What is good for the goose IS NOT GOOD for the gander! Especially if he knows what is good for him. :tehcool:
Going to a birthday party for my best friend's son who is five today.
Penny Lane 04-14-2007, 12:55 PM Well, yesterday morning my husband took me to a shooting range to teach me how to shoot a handgun. I didn't do too well.Never did hit the target! Anyway this is the first time I have ever shot a gun and now that I know what it is like I am not so afraid of it anymore. But it still makes me nervous. After that we met my sister at Bob Evans restaurant for lunch. Then my son came over last evening to watch the Tiger game. They lost. :( Tonight I am beginning season 3 Of Dallas on DVD. After that it is on to Knots Landing season 1.My husband watches his own tv. We definitely have different tastes. Tomorrow on to my daughters house for Sunday dinner.
Happy weekend everyone!
gilligan fanatic 04-14-2007, 12:59 PM Last two days of Spring Break are today and tomorrow. :(
I am working today from 2:30-6:30, but at least I don't have to eat dinner at home. I went to the post office today to send out some trades but they were closed before I got there. I don't know if am working tomorrow until I go in today, but I really hope I am not. Either way it is about 60 days till graduation including weekends.

I had such a great time chatting with you last night, as well as with Lou!! :D That sure was a nice surprise to finally get to hear the voice of THE MAN, behind The WOMAN. LOL!! I can understand why you're always talking so highly of him, he is a great guy, and it truly was a pleasure for me to get the opportunity to talk with him a bit. :) Sorry I was so out of it at times during our chat, but hey, that's what taking 7 medications a day can do to you. As far as me being a sympathetic ear, you've always been there for me, and I know you always will be, and so I will always be there for you too!! That's what true friends do for each other, and you are a true friend 4 Life!!! :D
Nothing much planned for me this weekend. I might drop by the DMV to get a driver's manual finally. I've been studying online for a few weeks now, but I want to be able to study more comfortably, like, in my bed. lol. I'm also probably gonna go say my goodbye's to my friend Donna, who's going to Vegas for a week. Also just got a call that my medications have been filled, so I'll probably be stopping by Albertson's soon to pick them up. Aside from that, I just plan on relaxing, and getting over this sickness I've had since getting back from my trip.
Brian Damage 04-14-2007, 01:31 PM I am under a 24 hour watch...oh joyous me.
Already Gone 04-14-2007, 02:09 PM Hi everyone. Not too much going around here. I just got back from Java Net, our local coffeehouse. I'll probably watch some TV and then go for a walk later, if it's not raining.

freshprinceofLA 04-14-2007, 08:46 PM Came back a few mins ago from the mall with my bro & mom. Just looked at shoes, clothes, & movies. Then we met up with my mom to grab a snack from the food court.
Courtnee 04-14-2007, 09:03 PM No coffee this week? Damn. I could use some. :faint:
Brad Russ 04-14-2007, 09:05 PM I Just got done throwing up. Walked upsatairs to the stench of pork chops being baked, and my stomache just couldn't take it. puke: Definitely not something you want to smell when you're sick, and feeling nauseus. Heck, pork chops isn't something I want to smell when I'm totally healthy! LOL!! This definitely hasn't been one of my better days, or weeks for that matter. I'm dizzy, nauseus, and I haven't been able to sleep for 35 hours now. If this continues much longer, I'm definitely going to have to call my doctor.

I'm sorry to hear this Brad. Isn't there a sleeping pill or something you can take? LOL on the pork chops...poor you.

I actually take benadryl for sleeping problems, but not even that is working. The Adderol is just making it so difficult for me to sleep all of a sudden. I've been taking it for four months with very few problems, but over the last few days, it's really been messing me up. I'm just glad it's not as bad as the last time I was on Adderol, and went over 60 hours without sleeping, and started having out of body experiences. Those were honestly some of the most frightening times of my life!!! I think it might just be time for me to change up my meds pretty soon, this is getting insane. From the physical affects, to the mental and emotional affects, it's honestly just not worth it. When it gets to the point where the side effects of what you're taking, start becoming more apparant than the benefits, you know it's time for a change!!
Thanks so much for your concern Janice, I appreciate it. :) I'm sure I'll be better soon. If things don't get any better by tomorrow, I'll definitely be calling my doctor.

I hope that you can get some sleep tonight, Brad. I know only too well what it is like not getting a good night's sleep and then having to try to get through a busy day. Having to go to work after not getting enough sleep is the worst.

Thanks Mike!! :) Yeah, fortunately for me, I don't have alot of the added pressures in my life at this time that alot of other people have, so I'm just lucky that I only have to deal with this, without alot of those other things on top of it. It could definitely be worse.
I'm sorry to hear that you also struggle with sleeping problems. I sincerely hope that it gets better for you as well. Hang in there!!

swedeace 04-15-2007, 11:03 AM Good morning, all!
It's already 8:58 a.m. on this Sunday morning! I didn't end up going to my northern state capital which is a 45-minute drive from where I live like I was wanting to go yesterday. My boss' daugher is a manager of a night club, and they had a grand opening last night with Tobias Rene playing. I don't really know his music. That is - if anyone is interested in listening. Thanks, by the way, to the ONLY person around here who gave me advice on it. Thanks, Kristel! I appreciate your words! Sometimes it just seems like if I were one of the more popular people around here, I would've more-than-likely gotten word or advice about it. Maybe I should've posted under their name to get more responses, eh? </end of venting> Okay, I'm in a cranky mood, but...whatever!
Anyway....I am waiting for my mom and sister to call me to let me know when they're ready so we can do some mini fridge shopping to store my sister's MS medicines in her room.
Okay...gonna get something to eat and then get ready. My stomach keeps reminding me to ingest something.
Number 9 Dream 04-15-2007, 11:54 AM Hey Mona,
Ah, you didn't end up going? That's understandable...it's a long drive and why go all that way if you don't know what this guy sounds like. If I had no one to go with on my drive, I probably wouldn't have gone either
Anyway, I'm not doing much today. There's a Noreaster hitting Long Island right now and we expect some flooding. I'm probably going to clean my room and organize my make-up collection (throw away old stuff I don't use, make note of what I need, etc). I'm in a rare cleaning mood  Then it's on to homework (which I absolutely NEED to do!), then I'm watching the new episode of The Girls Next Door @ 10 p.m. :woohoo:
Hope everyone enjoys the last of their weekend!
Janice 04-15-2007, 12:07 PM It's a rainy day today, so I'm staying in. The Sopranos tonight!
Happy Noreaster everyone!
Well it started raining about 2 AM this morning here in the city, and it hasn't stopped.
I'm trying to get up the motivation to go downstairs to the deli and get some coffee, a paper and a nosh.
Last night at the Gaf was fun and very busy. It was very quiet when I started my doorman shift at 10, but a local theater troupe showed up after an opening night performance, and by 11 the place was packed. The staff was pretty happy about that, and so was I, since a crowded bar makes the night go by faster. My friends and some of the other locals were in their usual corner having a good time. Everyone behaved themselves, I am proud to report, and nobody gave me any trouble when I carded them. And I carded everybody, since everyone who showed up looked like a teenager to me.
Today I'll probably get some writing done and hopefully watch a movie for an upcoming DVD review for the blog. After a nap I'll probably brave the rain again and head over to the Gaf this evening.
Stay dry!
;)
Brent88 04-15-2007, 04:44 PM I've had a fairly boring weekend. Been watching the weather(yesterday we had expected a tornado outbreak but only a few storms happened, and only south of here), but we got over 3 inches of soaking rain during the afternoon and evening which broke our drought! :D Today it feels like January... been in the 40's all day with howling NW winds at 20-30 mph(have heard a bunch of crap blow around the yard), so I'm mostly staying inside once again. My younger 13-year-old sister is in Washington D.C. on a school trip(she got there yesterday morning and will be there til Tuesday Evening). She was supposed to be at the Smithsonian this afternoon. At least she's having miserable weather too. It's back to college for me tomorrow, but I'm down to 1 class only on Monday/Wednesday so I'll home before 10. Only have 3 weeks left in the semester(including finals week in 2 weeks), and then I'll have 2 1/2 weeks off before I take a couple of summer classes. Tonight I'll be watching The Amazing Race, Desperate Housewives, Brothers and Sisters, and recording the premiere of Drive to watch tomorrow. Busy night after a quiet weekend.
I had a pretty good weekend. I started out lazing with my roommated and watching my Cheers DVDs with him, which was fun. Then I went and did my laundry, after which three of my new friends and I drove out to Chico (the next town over) and hung out.
First we went to the mall (yawn), after which we ate at Applebee's (meh).
The highlight of my evening, though, was The Old Town Root Beer Company. If you live in or near Temecula, San Diego, Barstow, Carlsbad or Chico and long for the days when soda was made with cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup, and served in glass bottles instead of plastic, this is your place.
First of all, they have more types of root beer than one could ever dream of, including home-brewed on tap and bottled. They also have a wide variety of any flavor of soda you could ever think of. Best of all, none of the soda bottles are made of plastic. They even have Mexican Pepsi and Coke, which uses cane sugar instead of the afforementioned high fructose corn syrup (the American versions of both colas used cane sugar until sometime in the '60s or '70s).
The atmosphere is wonderful, as well. The store in Chico is run by a nice man and his teenage son who gave us taste tests of four of their root beer flavors in shot glasses.
You have the choice of sitting at a bar and making friendly conversation with the employees, or sitting at a table with friends and family. You can play checkers and use their free jukebox while you enjoy your soda.
I had a bottle of Old Town Root Beer while there in a frosty mug, and took a mixed/matched six pack home that included glass bottles of Pepsi, Coke (both the Mexican kind), Orange Crush, Grape Crush, Old Town Root Beer and Dr. Pepper.
So yes, Old Town Root Beer Company is highly recommended by AKA. :)
On the drive home, we had a nice, deep philosophical discussion. Of course, a few jokes were cracked, as well.
Today we had church. Being on staff in a church is different, but in a good way. It's definitely more rewarding work than what I used to do for PB.
At the beginning of the service, five guys (myself included) performed a sketch I wrote - we played some of our female staffers... shopping. That got a great reaction, so I was pleased with that.
After worship, we meditated on portions of Matthew chapter 7. Here's The Message translation:
"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
That definitely spoke to my heart quite clearly. I was convicted, as, I'm sure, was most of the congregation.
The rest of the day, so far, has been spent grocery shopping and getting caught up on my "computer rounds" (MySpace, e-mail, message boards). I've been invited to a friend's house for dinner, so that should be fun.
Anyway, that's about it. Take care all.
Brad the Newly Californian
Courtnee 04-15-2007, 08:01 PM Yesterday I ran about a half mile in a Fun Run, sponsored by an athletic shop in Shereveport and I have shin splints.
Now I'm off to watch family guy and eat some cereal.
freshprinceofLA 04-15-2007, 09:47 PM Well, listened to the thunder or lightening at 3:30am then finally slept like at 4 or 5 am woke up at around 1pm. Ate lunch went to church, was watching a little bit of the jackie robinson day game dodgers vs padres.
HAPPY JACKIE ROBINSON DAY!
Brian Damage 04-15-2007, 10:17 PM I can't believe how much rain we are getting here in NY.
Brad Russ 04-16-2007, 01:07 AM Well, my weekend pretty much sucked!! Was hoping and feeling confident that I would feel better today, but I woke up with a pounding migraine, which has now been downgraded a bit, but still hurts like crazy. At the urging of my mom, I went out and got some fresh air and walked to the store about a half hour ago, and about halfway there, I could barely breath, and felt like I was going to pass out, so that didn't work out. I wasn't able to make a doctors appointment today, because I forgot it was Sunday, and he wasn't in, but he'll been in tomorrow, and so I'll definitely be making one then. I've been feeling like this for 11 days now, so I definitely need to figure out what the heck is going on with me!!
Mr. Stefani 04-16-2007, 01:13 AM My weekend sucked. Friday I saw Disturbia(which was really good btw). The rain we're having today is outta control. I went into the store today for my parents because someone called in sick..It was dead, guess people dont want to tan when it's monsooning out. I cleaned the place top to bottom because I was so bored.
Buffyboy323 04-16-2007, 01:50 AM It's a rainy day today, so I'm staying in. The Sopranos tonight!
That's what I was doing tonight....And then all this rain screwed up my cable, about 40 minutes into the episode! Aaaargghhh!!!
Brent88 04-16-2007, 02:17 PM I can't believe how much rain we are getting here in NY.
Second wettest day ever yesterday and the wettest day since 1882.
So, how bad is the flooding?
Nighthawk76 04-16-2007, 05:45 PM Good morning, all!

I'm sorry, Mona. I would have given you some advice, but I never saw your post. I don't often read this thread, and when I did Saturday night, I only brezzed on through it. You should not feel the way that you do though. You are a very well liked person here at Sitcoms Online. You are one of the people who makes this site a worthwhile place to come to. You are nice, carring and you write thoughtful and intelligent posts and threads.
Nighthawk76 04-16-2007, 05:48 PM Mona, I'm sorry. I know very well what it's like to be unpopular. I've been here 5 years (well technically 5 years tomorrow) and I'm certainly not what you could call popular. I'm grateful though for the friends I do have. I certainly know how crummy it feels to not get many responses and worse yet no responses at all. If it makes you feel any better you're more popular than I am. You get more responses in threads and posts than I do. I find myself, like you, thinking well if so-and-so had posted (insert question, problem, ....) they would have had several people giving them advice, congrats, encouragement, sympathy, wishes or whatever they might need. It's easy to feel left out. Ok, I'll shut up now. :(
Jenny, I think that your threads/posts get there share of responses. I know how you feel though. Sometimes I expect a certain thread and/or post that I write to get a certain degree of response, and then when it doesn't I sometiems end up disappointed.
Hey everybody, TJL here.
Yesterday I was all ready to sit at home and watch the rain when a friend called me up and offered me a free ticket to the NY Auto Show!
How could I pass that up?
Of course getting there in a noreaster was a pain, but once we got there, we had lots of fun looking at all the really neat cars we could never possible afford in a million years.
Cars like this!

After the auto show the rain stopped long enough for us to head back to the neighborhood to grab a pizza and watch the Yankees lose at the Gaf.
Fun day all around.
