in season 1 he look to be like 39 and by season 8 he look like 58 or 59.

Well, he was fortyseven years old, when the show started, and fiftyfive years old, when the show ended.

Also he put on a considerable amount of weight on during the run of the show. Also, Phylicia Rashad did not look the same after she gave birth to her daughter in 86. It look like she did not get all the weight off. She was quite petite during the first two seasons of the show. Plus her hair during those first two years looked great. When she cut her hair in the final season it looked great on her.

I think I know why.

In 1984 Bill was Skinnier and his Hair was Black

it weird to see picture of cosby when he 24 and then look at picture at aged 69 .
but i know that because he was much younger back then and he was alot funnier back in the 1960s for some reason i do not find him funny anyore.

Poor Cliff let his wife dominate him by the third season.. Why should he be treated like a child, if the man wants a hoagie he should have one without be afraid of what Mrs. Huxtable might do. She's his wife not mother. He's acts totally defeated by the last season :(

I've been noticing the same thing recently, about Cliff's age. He looked like he aged more than eight years. He still looked good though, just much older. I think those are sort of the years when people show their age more. Had he been aged 37 to 45, it might have been different. The 50s are a decade where most people's looks change.

Did anyone notice Bill Cosby's eye in the later seasons? I don't know if it's the left or right eye, but his one eye didn't move like the other. Part of growing older I guess.

Speaking of which; I remember in the last episode, in the scene where Denise is on the phone and announces that she's pregnant. Cliff has the phone grabbed from his hand, then it's passed around and before he's able to talk to his own daughter, his mother, intentionally and rudely hangs up the phone and then turns to Cliff and actually sneers a line about Denise needing her rest, as a pathetic way of justifying her behavior.

She may have been his mother, but Denise was his daughter, not her's. That arrogant old bat had no right to pull such a rotten stunt. He should've told her off, but his character apparently had no backbone at that point.

I don't know who wrote that particular scene, but it wasn't the least bit funny.

Sorry for bumping such a old thread, but I was observing the same thing when I was watching last night. I actually think he still looked good in Season 5. After that, he aged quick. I'm quite surprised, because it was only a 3-year period til the finale.

it was like his eyelids were different looking in Season 8. lol.
