I love that moment too.My favorite scene between them is on the ep:The Matchmaker( Mrs.Howell wants to play matchmaker with Gilligan & Mary Ann).They're so shy,cute and sweet together.They are just warming up as the Howells returned and ruined everything :(

Did you know that Sherwood Schwartz wanted to start a romance between Gilligan & Mary Ann on that episode ? But,the sensors didn't allow it :mad:

They were so sweet together, a puppy love type romance would have been nice.

Why did the censors not allow a romance for them? Did they think the characters too young?

It was the area.Just because the island wasn't a proper place.No parents,no chaperons around.It would look bad for a family show in those days :crazy:

That was so crazy.They became like a family,the skipper said that many times.I always saw the skipper as father's figure for Gilligan more than a boss and he was a captain,he could marry people.He remarried the Howells on a later episode.The professor was like an older brother for Gilligan and Howells were like rich uncle & aunt you would like to have.Everybody was watching each other's steps.

Not sure if this been asked before. How old was Gilligan the character on the show? I know in real time back then Bob Denver, he was 29. But on the show, he seems so much younger. Like maybe 17 -20 years old. I would guess Mary Ann the character was maybe about 20 or 21 in the show.

Gilligan was 22 because on the ep:Meet,the Meteor.In the dream sequence,they were celebrating 50th anniversary on the island.After the dream,Gilligan kept stairing at himself in a mirror...The skipper asked him why he kept looking at his reflexion,he answered that he didn't look so bad for 72 years old.

I would say that Mary Ann was around the same age because her hair in the dream sequence was grey like Gilligan's and all the others castaway's hair were completly white.

just so ya knows... i believe MaryAnn was 19 when she took the three hour tour:)

the Professor and his adorable naivity towards romantic matters simply melts my heart... :D :D :D
