I'm currently employed at "Zellers" as a general merchandise clerk and trying to look for a different; and better job that involves books, etc....

This fall; I'm planning on going to school to take a college program called:
"Information & Library Technologies" and so I decided to start looking for a job in either a libary and/or someplace where I can gain experience and get a feel for it but I'm having no such luck.

Has anybody had this kind of problem? I'm getting frustrated and impatient.
It's hard cause I have no experience. Any suggestions and/or tips?

You might have to volunteer in order to build up some experience. I am sure you have put thought into your decision for the class you are taking but it seems to me that even with the certification you are very limited in the jobs that it applies to.

Have you talked to people in the industry that you want to work (i.e. an informational interview)? Does this program pretty much guarantee you a job in your chosen feild? If not perhaps you should reconsider your choice of program, there are tons of programs out there that would all but ensure you employment.

It is very common for people in College/University to waste several years and lots of money before finding what they actually want to do. I would suggest at minimum you make an appointment with an academic counsellor at the college, they may also be able to assist you in finding employment in the feild you are looking.

A little piece of paper, commonly referred to as a diploma, is important in many careers. But you won't get far without solid experience. Perhaps some volunteer or internships.
