View Full Version : Grindhouse Question
I've read that it isn't doing that well at the box office. Do you think its worth
seeing at the theater or would it be better to wait for it to come out on DVD,
and just rent it? I mainly want to see the one with Kurt Russell in it, isn't it two movies in one?

I am finally seeing it tonight. It all depends how badly you want to see it. It isn't doing that well in the box office, but I don't let that deter me from seeing what I want to see.
felicitylen 04-12-2007, 05:51 PM OOOooo, I've been wanting to know the samething. The previews looked interesting.

Will you let us know if its a pretty good movie? I know we're not suppose to go into details on new movies, but I'd like to know how you rate it.

It does look action packed, my 15 year old son wants to see it but since its rated-R, I don't know if we should go or not. But I would like to see it.
PeopleI know who have seen it say "Grindhouse" is a pretty fun movie and they recommend it.
Maybe the 3 plus hour running time has turned off audiences.

That is a long time to sit through a movie but if its pretty good that shouldn't be a problem. I just wonder if its too rough to take my son to. He has seen those Saw movies, surely its not any worse than those movies is it?

It's Tarantino you can bet that the language is much worse.

Maybe my son should miss this movie then. I may just wait until it comes out on DVD to see it. Thats what I'm doing with Ghostrider too. But I know alot of the action movies are so much better on the big screen.
floyd2006 04-16-2007, 07:53 AM Well Death Proof has a lot of "sex talk" and the F word is in there alot and Planet Terror has a sex scene but you dont see anything.
I liked both of them very much but I expected DP to be alot better.

But I think it'll be alright for a 15 year old(if you dont care to hear the f word alot), everyone watched worse things when they were 15 right?

LucyCompanyPhan 04-16-2007, 02:35 PM I personally liked Death Proof a lot more than Planet Terror. They're both good grindhouse movies. The Planet Terror is made in exact Grindhouse form while Death Proof has a lot of QT forms to it. My problem with Planet Terror is that it feels really long even though it's non-stop action all the way through. It's sort of scattered-brained in the sense that it's just crazy. Death Proof takes a really long time to get going because Kurt Russell's character isn't introduced until about 20 minutes into but once it gets going, it's super fun and I can't remember the last time I was on the edge of my seat like that.
I would definately catch it in theater if you can. Seeing it with other people and their reactions to some really f-uped stuff is just really funny. Rumor has it that the film is going to get split up in two sections and that you won't be able to find it as this "Grindhouse" collection cut anymore. So see it when you can. I'd give it a B+.
Brian Damage 04-19-2007, 12:06 AM I absolutely loved Grindhouse. Death Proof with Kurt Russell was my favorite of the two, but I also liked Planet Terror a lot as well. The "coming attractions" were great as well. My favorite was Thanksgiving directed by Eli Roth. I am sorry, but Tarantino has still got it. He is a genius in my book.
ur2sexy4me27 04-19-2007, 01:15 PM If you're going to see Grindhouse I recommend you see it in the theater. I don't think it would be as fun on DVD as it is in theaters. And trust me, the 3 hours goes by very quickly.

agreed
felicitylen 04-19-2007, 01:55 PM I plan to see it this weekend. How was the acting with Fergie?
ur2sexy4me27 04-19-2007, 01:56 PM Fergie was good, but she was only in the movie for about 10 minutes.
LucyCompanyPhan 04-20-2007, 08:04 AM Fergie surprised me though in that 10 minutes. One of the most intense scenes was with her character.
felicitylen 04-29-2007, 04:52 PM Finally saw Grindhouse and I love it! Death Proof was my favorite feature. Not to give anything away but I loved how the ladies kicked azz!
LucyCompanyPhan 04-30-2007, 12:55 AM For sure. It's definately a woman's kick ass kind of a film.
ABlairican Pie 05-02-2007, 12:06 AM I saw Grindhouse this weekend and it was great!!! If it's not doing well at the box office, it probably is because it's a three-hour film cut into a "double-feature" (with very cool trailers).

I saw it in the theatre and I'd see it again.. I really enjoyed it.
I finally saw it, and thought it was pretty cool. I didn't take my son though.
