I mean the editing is just the worst i ever seen in my TV watching life. They go to a commercial very 4 min and it's very sloppy looking. Just trying to deciede if it's even worth having a ION episode on Video when everything is so UNCONNECTED during every episode

I don't know. If you have to ask, then probably not. I mean, when will this opportunity come again? Will Alice be shown somewhere else? ION is really not the perfect channel. I still get annoyed watching AMEN and hearing the theme song be so whacked.

I would record it if it isn't a bother for you, but if it is too much trouble, then I guess it's not worth it.

I would still record it. You know never know how long they are going to keep airing it and it's better than no Alice at all.

It depends on how much you really want this show in your collection.

Yeah I think I wll just put up with the sloppy editing since the show is RARE and not seen anywhere else

Yeah, it would be smart to still record it. Who knows when Alice will actually get a full dvd release. Just don't trade it. lol

The episode I was watching last night, ION went to a commercial while the BELL was ringing at Alice's APT-lol And then when they came back, they were at the Diner again

If you have a DVD Recorder you can record them off of in2tv, their episodes are uncut.

Ion does edit its programs shoddily, I totally agree, but it took HOW LONG for Alice to come back on the air again? I'd rather tape these episodes and keep them in case it is removed from the lineup. I'd keep them until, God forbid, maybe it's released on DVD...

Why record Alice on the ion channel or even attempt to record it off in2tv??
Really Folks, It's only a matter of time before the official word is announced that Alice The Complete First Season will be released on DVD.
Why wouldn't the first season of Alice be released on DVD?
Look at a show like F Troop! Honestly do you really think a show like F Troop has more fans than Alice or was even that popular?
They also put F Troop out first as a TV Favorites DVD & like Alice sales were not that good, but F Troop did so well on in2tv and lots of loyal F Troop fans called & emailed Warner asking for a full season release! And Warner not only released The Complete First Season, but they also released The Complete Second Season.

Almost every show on in2tv which is owned by Warner has had full season DVD sets released.
The Batman & Superman cartoons are the latest shows to be released.

I used to watch Alice back in it's day when it was on CBS and when they aired it weekdays on CBS. It was a great show. You actually felt like you were eating at Mel's Diner!
I have only seen a couple of episodes of Alice from the ion channel, but I have decided to not watch any more episodes from the first season because, 1.) I have something to look forward to when the first season is finally released on DVD! 2.) the way ion edits them, it's just not worth it when I know that it's only a matter of time before we see remastered and uncut episodes from the first season on DVD! It will be a real treat to see so many episodes from the first season that I have never seen before or episodes I don't remember and as much as I want to see them again on ion or in2tv, I really think it will be worth the wait to go out & buy the first season on DVD when it's finally released. The quality of the episodes and the sound & the edits really look bad on the ion channel. No thanks! I'll wait it out...
I guess I can start watching Alice on ion when they start airing the third season episodes! It will probably be a while before season 3 would ever make it to DVD.

Alice was a very popular show and just like other popular 70 TV shows like Wonder Woman, Dallas and The Dukes Of Hazzard that Warner owns, they are not that stupid to pass up a good profit. Even if sales were not good for the Alice TV Favorites DVD, Warner knows how many hits Alice is taking on in2tv. They are aware of how many times people are downloading and watching the episodes.

Alice was a popular show that was on for 9 seasons. It had so many wonderful episodes and many famous guest stars like Victor Buono, Adam West, George Burns, Desi Arnaz, Telly Savalas & Art Carney appeared on Alice. Trust me, this show has got to come out on DVD!

Like some of their good movies they own, such as the OH GOD! Films and a couple of Art Carney films, Warner is known to be slow when it comes to releasing old goodies on DVD. But just be paitent & you will see that the first couple of seasons of Alice will start coming out.
Warner Bros. is just so busy with still trying to put out all the Dallas Seasons, their 7th Season comes out very soon. Other complete seasons that Warner have finished with are Gilligan's Island, Wonder Woman & The Flintstones to name a few. There's no question that Alice will come out soon on DVD. It's just a matter now of the powers that be at Warner to say... "hey we have released all the seasons for so & so on DVD, ok what else can we start putting out & making money off?"
Just like all the other major studios who are now scrambling to put out any TV Classic they can make money off. Warner knows that they have a gold mine with Alice! Poeple love all these old 70's & 80's classic shows.
I think right now, Warner has this deal with in2tv beforte they set out for a full DVD release of Alice. So I think it's safe to say a Complete First Season of Alice will be released soon.

Stay Tuned...

I also have been recording the uncut Alice episodes on In2TV on my DVD recorder. They have almost every episode from S1 there and doing a search I found another episode added, from S8 "The Robot Wore Pink".
Some computers, like mine do not have a video output(just an audio output),so I bought a PC to TV device that lets you hook up the computer video to a VCR or DVD recorder. Picture quality varies on some episodes(pilot is really good, but some of the S1/S2 episodes are a bit grainy),but still very watchable.

I too am quite upset with the editing of alice on ion, but i decided to keep recording to dvd because as my friend irene said, when will this opportunity happen again?, especially if they keep it on the air for an entire run, even if it is released on dvd, we will never see the entire series....one suggestion to those recording directly on dvd, it sort of takes the sting out if you take the commercials out live...don't get too creative, but there is a pattern with the breaks once you get used to it, the second break also has a ion logo, i hit my fast pause button then, then just hit record again about 2 minutes into the break but during the start of another commercial, that way it won't appear too choppy, I actually have this working that i hit the pause button during the in between black area and I haven't missed a single second of the program and have the episodes down to a 23 minute or so runtime, also in the faster record speeds SP or M2 you can fit 5 episodes per disc instead of 4, saving shelf space...in a slim line double case I am fitting 2 discs with 10 episodes! at shelf space with a thickness of a millimeter!

good luck all!

I've been going thru some of my tapes from when it was on E! They butchered it pretty badly too. One obvious edit I noticed was watching Florence of Arabia. When Flo broke up with Benny (Alice and Vera were out of the scene), and immediately they were in the background dancing. It's just that E! did the commercial breaks a little better, so the cuts weren't always as obvious.

That was another time and another place, television keeps going down hill every 10 years or so, I'm not defending ION butchering, but lets stay on topic.....meaning should we continue to record or not.....if E! was running ALICE now we would have constant pop culture news crawls running after every commercial break and flying heads of the girls next door & no credits....we think the E! airings were so much better and they were but thats because things weren't even as bad 10 years ago....don't forget before 9/11 we didn't even have non-stop news crawls on CNN, MSNBC, Fox distracting us from really watching larry king interviews, etc.
