View Full Version : Theme Song Changed on DVD kramer 04-11-2007, 08:18 AM The theme song will be changed in the upcoming dvd release :( http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=7144 Ireneparalegal 04-24-2007, 11:19 PM What is the replacement song? Is there a link to hear the song? Why was LOWRIDER removed as the theme from the DVD? Ireneparalegal 04-24-2007, 11:24 PM Nevermind, I found it. comedyfreak 04-26-2007, 05:26 AM That sucks when they don't use the same theme. Luckymama58 04-27-2007, 07:12 AM I concur, I love Lowrider! It is a perfect fit. Maybe they couldn't get the rights to use it on the DVD tho..... the all important copyright laws! Madame X 04-27-2007, 09:34 AM The theme song will be changed in the upcoming dvd release :( Did they change the opening too? I can't imagine it without Lowrider. I love the opening, especially when Benny goes up and she is in a patio chair! TVFactFan 01-02-2008, 01:25 PM LOL- i's tell ya, it's always something when it comes to TV shows on DVD. Here I start liking a new show and now won't hear the Lowrider theme If I but the DVD friendsfan77 01-02-2008, 01:35 PM This is why I don't want new shows to use copyrighted music anymore. It'll just wind up getting edited out when the DVD's come. Ireneparalegal 01-02-2008, 02:13 PM The song "Lowrider" has been George's opening song ever since he has been doing stand-up. I went to a few shows of his before he "hit it big". He has been very popular in our county since 1989. My ex-husband and I would see him everytime he came here to perform. Small venues, but excellent shows. I was not at all surprised that he got to this point of being a huge star. Anyhoo, like I said, that song has been his "theme" since way back when. It only made sense that he used it as his opening theme for his tv show. The songwriters for that song include Lonnie Jordan, one of the founding members of WAR, the group who sings the song. A few other members of the group are also co-writers. What I don't get is why the song is not on the DVD? I mean, is the songwriter(s) the only thing that stands in the way of copyright permission? Or does the label who have a say-so as well? Gimme some facts here people. Luckymama58 02-01-2008, 03:13 PM Copyrights can be tricky things, usually there are several people with some stake in them. It is one of the things that is holding up another favorite show of mine, Cold Case, from even coming out on DVD... too many copyright issues since they use so many older tunes to set the mood. At least GL is out on DVD, but I agree, Lowrider does make this show and I miss it not being the opening song. |
