View Full Version : I loved Arnie...am I in the minority here?
Ireneparalegal 04-09-2007, 04:24 PM I really loved the character Arnie. I found him funny and I loved it when he was Elvis' ghost on two Halloween episodes. He was hilarious looking. I get the feeling that a lot of the fans of Roseanne didn't care for his character. I really enjoyed all the episodes that he was in. I especially liked the two-parter Vegas episodes and the one where he slept with Jackie.
coffield3 04-10-2007, 08:06 AM I just find him really really annoying thats all,i also like those eppys with him in i dont hate the guy.Yeah he looked very funny in that elvis's ghost costume. ;)
An 80s Guy 04-10-2007, 12:27 PM Arnie was sometimes funny. He was annoying sometimes especially in that Bingo episode.

OMG, that episode is hilarious with him doing the announcing. I think the fact that he is supposed to be annoying (hence, why no one likes him on the show) but he is so funny at it, which is why I love his character.
Will and Grace Fanatic 04-10-2007, 04:10 PM i liked his character because annoying characters can be so darn funny. I wish his character could have stayed the entire series but that wasn't gonna happen with the divorce and all.
coffield3 04-10-2007, 06:55 PM Did any of you watch that roseanne movie? was it just me or was that really confusing? plus that women who played roseanne did her no justice at all lol.

So true. A lot of things changed on ROSEANNE because of that marriage and divorce.
Jason16 04-21-2007, 08:08 AM I didn't mind arnie, i just didn't like the way moved while standing up.

Arnie was always fidgeting because at that time Tom Arnold was using whatever drug he used (some type of speed?) before he cleaned up.
I loved the Arnie character. He was meant to be annoying and disgusting. I liked the Vegas ones and it was also funny in the barbecue episode where the kids are picking teams for basketball and Arnie is next to last, fidgeting, and saying "Pick me. I'm good."
He was also good with Nancy. They had an off-beat chemistry.
I also thought it was cool that Thomas Arnold played Arnold Thomas.
Heist81 04-22-2007, 04:32 AM I liked Arnie, you aren't alone. Don't really care for Tom Arnold as a person, but he was ok on the show. Also, he did write the PMS episode, can't knock him for that.
SparkleFarkle 05-11-2007, 10:46 AM Arnie was always fidgeting because at that time Tom Arnold was using whatever drug he used (some type of speed?) before he cleaned up.A while back, in an appearance with guest host Kathie Lee Gifford on Late Night with David Letterman, Tom told her about his web site, that supposedly over half a million women have checked out, on which he invites ladies to register for dates with him. Along with his dating requirements, Arnold says that more than anything, he wants to get married and have a family. He states he has "Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and a low sperm count, but he can still impregnate you." Maybe that contributes to the "fidgets" (the statement in bold, not the "sperm count" remark, that is!) ;)

Dusk Angel 07-31-2007, 12:11 PM I was never a fan of either Tom Arnold or Arnie, but there was something about the way Tom and Roseanne looked at each other when Arnie first came on the show that told me that they really loved each other. It's too bad that they split up the way that they did.

Yeah, it was very bitter. I heard them when Roseanne was on Howard Stern and Tom called in. The way Roseanne went off on Tom and how Tom seemed to be calm and rational. However, we now know she had her mental issues, past abuse, so forth; Tom had his drug abuse issues and you put those two kinds of people in a marriage and it is doomed to fail if both don't get help.
They are now on better terms. I heard Roseanne on Howard Stern (again) and she said some rather nice things abt Tom.
coffield3 08-03-2007, 06:11 PM He was only on the show because at that time he was boinking roseanne, i found his character pointless but i liked how roseanne made him an idiot in the show because that was him lol.

Well, each of Roseanne's husbands made it on the show. So, yeah, if you are the boss' husband, chances are, you will make an appearance on her show.
Arnie was a dork, that is what made him so funny to me. He was the guy that no girl in her right mind would want to be with. Funny though, in the beginning, he was seen as Dan's friend; later on it was stated he went to high school with Roseanne, Jackie and the other ladies. They made a blood oath that none of them would do more than look at him. Jackie screwed up there.
coffield3 08-03-2007, 08:01 PM Yes the episode where he kisses roseanne and she calls jackie they act then as if they didnt know him? i just didnt seem the point in his charater although he was fun to laugh at i guess.
sweetdiggity 08-05-2007, 12:57 AM I liked Arnie. Especially in the ep. "Five of A Kind", when he kisses Roseanne and Jackie.

Yes, thank you. That was where they (Jackie & Roseanne) referred to him as Dan's friend. Later on, he is the dork they went to high school with. I guess they thought we wouldn't notice. ;)

How lucky can us single ladies be? We'd have to be stupid to pass this up!
