comedyfreak 04-09-2007, 01:34 PM The link isn't valid, I'll listen to the theme when I get home. I don't remember Dick Tufeld singing the theme.
TV Knowledge Fan 04-09-2007, 02:26 PM ...was primarily the announcer for the show's sponsor, Quaker Oats. Originally, at the beginning of the opening title, the Quaker logo would appear on screen, and he'd say, "The Quaker Oats Company presents.."- and the theme would begin, with the bugle and the male chorus. At the end of the title, Dick would announce, "F TROOP- brought to you by.....Quaker Oats...", etc. Before the closing titles, he'd say "F TROOP- was brought to you by....the growing family of products of THE QUAKER OATS COMPANY!". He never participated in singing the theme song.

Is this from your own memories of watching the show or do you have something to back up your statement? Most likely you are correct since you seem to know everything there is to know about tv. If you have some sort of book that you get this info from I'd sure like to get a copy of it.
TV Knowledge Fan 04-10-2007, 12:50 PM ...but I distinctly remember Tufeld's announcements on the show because I saw it when I was growing up (still am!), and the fact that 16mm network prints with the original Quaker Oats I.D. and commercials have turned up in collectors' circles, backs that fact without any further doubts!
I also remember the second season opening title- again, the Quaker logo would flash on screen, Tufeld would say, "The Quaker Oats Company presents..", and the logo would "morph" into the "F TROOP" title, cue opening theme!

Coffeecup 09-01-2013, 04:56 PM I do believe Dick Tufield did the opening narration on Peyton PLace. His voice was heard on other shows too. But can't think of any at the moment other than Peyton.

Since S2 had a teaser scene before the opening credits, whereas S1 went directly into the theme song before any of the plot unfolded, did this opening appear before the teaser scene or after the scene but before the opening credits?
missy's pop pop 12-25-2013, 08:38 PM If it's like most 1960's TV sitcoms, "F Troop's" S2 teaser scene came at the start, followed by the Quaker Oats intro, then the theme song.
A similar approach was used during the Quaker Oats sponsorship of "Bewitched," but Gary Owens did the voice-over.
Dick Tufeld was heard on "Bewitched" after Chevrolet and Quaker Oats both dropped their sponsorships after Dick York left the series.
