View Full Version : How'd you meet?
tdf4077 04-08-2007, 06:20 PM As you may or may not know, I'm in the process of getting a dissolution (which is a good thing). But, I'm a bit of a recluse, so I'm kinda scared that I may never meet anyone else (although I'm only 25).
I'm def. not looking for anyone now or anything, but I'm just curious how you all met your boyfriends/girlfriends/husbands/wives, etc.
80s_Fan 04-08-2007, 06:53 PM I met my boyfriend thru a dating service; and we've been together
for 12 yrs. and still very much in love.
tdf4077 04-08-2007, 07:24 PM awwww. that gives me some hope :)
We met while riding around Shoneys. Back then it had a drive-in kind of like Sonic. Thats where all the teenagers from all the different schools went to hang out. And I pulled up beside his car and just started talking to him & his best friend. My two best friends were with me, so that kind of helped.

I'm a recluse too...so I'm glad this is working out. Yay for the net.
Kazza 04-09-2007, 04:52 AM Online.
We had been talking for a year before meeting in person.
tdf4077 04-09-2007, 09:51 AM see, online kinda scares me 'cause I'm not a very trusting person, so I wouldn't know if the person's being honest or whatnot? Did you use like Match/Eharmony?
JoPol_wannabe 04-09-2007, 11:41 AM Actually get this me and my boyfriend meant on this very websit. About 4 years ago my boyfriend noticed that I was also from Nebraska so he decided to talk to me and we had several private chats, we talked for about a year over the internet before we meant. Then one day we decided we wanted to meet so we picked a town kind of inbetween each other and we both agreed we would both bring a friend along just to be safe. So we meant and realized that everything we told about each other over the internet was true and we hung out the whole day and had such a good time that we decided to do it again and then we became boyfriend and girlfriend and we have been dating for 3 years now.
JoPol_wannabe 04-09-2007, 11:42 AM sorry didn't mean to post twice had a computer glich.

I went to Cupid Junction and got a bunch of emails from loonies. Just this one person seemed to be really 'interested' but I got scared so I canceled my acct . It turns out that we found each other on My Space and had no idea until recently that we have known each other for a while longer than what we thought.

You are so young. Most definitely you will find love again. In the meantime, try and enjoy yourself, whether it's alone time or with dating, meeting new people. Not trying to get you out there right now, but eventually, you will feel the bitterness of divorce go away. Have fun, relax and enjoy.

Thanks for the kind words and support! I went straight from living with my parents to living with my soon-to-be ex, so this is the first time I'm ever going to really be on my own. I think that's part of why I'm scared. I don't have too many friends or anything, either, and my best friend is leaving for med school in a few months.
But, on the other hand, I know I'm going to be happier and better off in the long run to get through all this. Just a big part of me really wants to have my own family and the storybook romance. But, you're right. I'm nearly 26, but there's plenty of time. I rushed before, and that's what got me in this situation :)

I hope you do find what you are seeking and that it will last forever. I do suppport you and most definitely understand what you are going through. As hard as it was after my divorce, having my own place with my two girls was just great. Although I went through financial setbacks, the peace and tranquility of having my own place to do what I wanted and be who I wanted was an experience. I know you can make it through and YOU WILL!;)

I'm almost 25 and I've never met anyone really special. I can be really shy and a bit of a recluse too. I worry sometimes that I'll never meet anybody, but I absolutely believe that when it's right it'll happen. Hey, we're both still very young, there's plenty of time!

that's how my boyfriend and I met and he's the sweetest guy in the world and treats me good, I love him with all my heart awee I know soo cute..:D
PZelda 04-10-2007, 04:28 PM This isn't a boyfriend/girlfriend situation, but anyway... I'm really good friends with this guy, who I met late last year. BTW, he's almost eight years my senior. When we met and were introducing ourselves, he said his name and it sounded REALLY familiar to me. Turns out we attended the same elementary school nearly 19 years ago, although that's not where I know him from. I'm actually still trying to figure out where I know him from. Nevertheless, it's pretty ****ing cool to know we crossed paths a long time ago.
tdf4077 04-10-2007, 07:58 PM that kinda happened to me once. When I was a freshmen in high school, I was dating this guy and we started talking about stuff. Well, we come to find out that we went to kindergarten together, but he left the school for a different system after kindergarten. We hadn't known each other in k, either...but when I was going through some old pictures, my mom had a picture of the two of us sitting together in class. It was funny!
treky 04-11-2007, 02:07 AM well; I'm not dating anyone and I'm not married; but I did meet a girl on here 2 years ago. (I'm a guy)
So I guess you could consider her my girlfriend (even though I only know vagely what she looks like)
I hardly talk to her anymore; though. She's having money problems and was forced to cancel her internet service.
*MIBabe03* 04-11-2007, 07:19 AM I met my boyfriend through plentyoffish.com. At first I got a few emails from guys that are my dad's age. No thanks! I mentioned in my profile that I love reading Stephen King novels. My now boyfriend sent me a message expressing both interest, and wanting to know if I had read a certain novel by Stephen King. He also mentioned a few other things in my profile that pertained to him and gave me his AIM. I messaged him on AIM and talked to him consistently for a week or so before we met. We met on November 10, and I see him all the time. He's the sweetest guy in the world!

TURBOCSX 04-13-2007, 03:52 PM i met my wife online. Actually, I used to run an online bbs (old school online chat/messageboard service, pre-web) , and i met her on a matchmaking bbs. I emailed her there and got her to join the bbs i was running. This was back in the early 90's, and we used to have a phone validation requirement to give people access. I was the one doing the validations, so I got to call her. We talked on the phone for almost 6 months before we actually met. We'll be married 12 years this may. Oh, the matchmaking bbs had questionaires that we filled out. She was one of the highest matches I had.
Penny Lane 04-14-2007, 01:18 PM My husband and I are from the same small town. His parents owned the hardware store. Well, he is 7 years older than I am so we never met until I was 17 and he was 24. My parents knew his parents but we never met until much later. We married in 1968 and are still married. So take heart! There is somebody for each of us.

I met my husband at a dance club. I had broken up with a man I was faithfully in love with. My friend dragged me to this dance club because she was tired of me pining for my ex. when I wasn't searching for someone.... my husband came into my life.
Take your time. You will meet someone possibly when you're not looking for him. ;)
