I'd have to go with Mike, Luke and Ben in the seventh season.

I love them all (except maybe Ben) for different reasons, but if I had to choose 1 character as my top favorite, it`s Carol. She changed a lot on the show. And she had good episodes.....Mike is a close 2nd though.

I've always liked Mike. You know, I always thought that if he had actually studied, he would have done as well in school as Carol. I mean look at the cons he pulls! He's a really smart kid, he just never applies it to school. :)

Maggie and Carol are great but i LOVE mike too!! I love how Carol changed so much (as previously mentioned by buffyboy i think) she was the brainy girl who was a complete nerd in the first season and then worked her way up a little in the second season by starting to date bobby but was still a nerd, then by the 3rd and 4th season she was really getting into more of a social life than scholastic things... and she just had sooooo many serious episodes where she was SUCH a great actor! I love how maggie is shown as the "typical" woman... confusing jason all of the time and getting emotional about a lot, but i LOVE how she rationalizes Jason!!! She is a great wife and mother, and i hope that someday i can also juggle a career and kids like she has.... and then mike, omg he is SOOOO funny and that smile just makes you melt! No wonder he was a teen hunk!! He has the most hilarious friends and the thing that's SOOOO great about mike's character is that he's the kind of guy getting other kids into trouble where as in other shows usually the kid in the family is influenced by another boy's bad ideas and schemes! And his hairbrain ideas are just hilarious... but it does drive me nuts at how smart he is and doesn't apply it until he starts dating julie... i mean, in the episodes nan showed (at least the first part) Family Ties P. 1 and 2... he drives me nuts with how he doesn't want to do well at college and he's mooching off his parents but at the same time they dont want him to move out becuase they dont think he is ready... i am in my third year in college and moving out of my parents house was the best thing i ever did!! I grew up SOOOOO much and learned a lot on my own that first year... but to dare mooch off of my parents, yea right! I'm paying my own way here completely on my own, have two jobs, a full sched of classes (engineering classes mind you) and i make it work! so i just find that whole situation odd... but anyways, those are my favorites!

How come nobody likes Chrissy, Luke or Dwight? OK, so they didn't come in til later, but they are still awesome!

oh by the way, i' love growing pains is the best serie ever, i love every character but in special i love maggie is a great mom, and is really funny and the others characers are in 2 place, cause is impossible choose one .,everyone is brilliant ,is a really good sitcom ;)

Anyway, this quote is my original favorite character choice. But looking back, I reverse the order; Mike is my favorite, and Carol comes in a close second.

Amen to that, especially around 1988! Definitely still very beautiful today though, looks at least 5 years younger than her age :).
