View Full Version : Is it not considered COOL anymore to carry an umbrella when it's pouring down raining
TVFactFan 04-04-2007, 10:32 AM On my way to work this morning, and it was raining very hard and I counted 42 people on their way to work without a umbrella-lol Damm, so I must be doing something wrong. Anyone prefer NOT to carry a umbrella when it's raining and rather just put a HOOD on your head?
Already Gone 04-04-2007, 10:38 AM If it's pouring rain, i'll use an umbrella.
Brian Damage 04-04-2007, 10:44 AM Who the F cares if it is cool? Who wants to spend the day at work soaked???

well i guess me and you are geeks then-lol
Brieannas21 04-04-2007, 12:44 PM If I'm out running of course I don't use an umbrella. But if I'm out shopping or going to work I do, with my hair I need something to cover it.
Max Whittaker 04-04-2007, 12:58 PM Usually I don't have my umbrella with me. A rain jacket with a hood is what I usually bring if I think it might rain. Don't really like umbrellas.

Yeah but your FACE gets wet-LOL-LOL
Courtnee 04-04-2007, 02:22 PM I use one if I have one handy. If I don't, I just use a jacket or something.
catlover79 04-04-2007, 03:03 PM I'm 27 and past caring whether or not something is considered cool. I always have an umbrella in the car and wear boots when the weather looks like rain/snow.
Central Perk 04-04-2007, 03:31 PM I used an umbrella to walk 30 feet from the school parking lot into school.
I keep an umbrella in my car & use it when I need it. I don't really like getting soaked if I can help it. But I know a few people who will not use an umbrella,
they think its uncool.
bandito 04-04-2007, 05:06 PM I never use one, but my Wife always does.

I will admit that umbrellas can be a pain in the ass but I do have to stay dry-lol I hate the Gene Kelly Umbrellas the most
Ireneparalegal 04-04-2007, 06:06 PM Ok, this is a two-part question.
First, is it cool or uncool? I agree with Catlover aka Monika. Who cares. I mean, in the end, who is going to look cool all soaking wet at work?
Second, do I use an umbrella? Well, it hardly rains here, and when it does, I avoid going out of the house in that weather anyways. I know back in the days when I had no choice but to venture outdoors I rarely used an umbrella, since it was just a hop, skip and a jump from the car to inside of my work.

Janice 04-04-2007, 08:36 PM I'll never understand how people go in the rain without an umbrella. Makes no sense to me. Especially when I worked, I didn't want my hair and makeup to get ruined.

My Mom's funny statement
Me: Why were 42 people walking in the pouring down rain this morning without a umbrella?
My Mom: Because they never had any interest in buying one
LOL
I hate umbrellas but I do use them, either that or get soaked. And it is a pain when it is pouring rain and the wind is blowing and you have to hold the umbrella steady so it does not turn inside out and break.
An 80s Guy 04-04-2007, 10:25 PM I never use an umbrella. It's so much f-ing trouble.Being that I'm so clumsy I would hit someone in the head every time I took a step.If I get soaked(Which I usually do)it'll dry up in a half hour.
Max Whittaker 04-04-2007, 11:15 PM Yeah but your FACE gets wet-LOL-LOL
Not really. Depends on where the rain is blowing. In any case, it's only water, and it's only my face.

:yeahthat
OMG, I CANNOT go out in the rain without an umbrella, my hair would be like an old mop hanging on my head, lol. Not to mention I can't STAND being all soaking wet. I also wear boots if it snows bad, I am the only one I ever notice using an umbrella when it snows, lol, but snow is water too, lol, and I don't give a sh*t what anyone thinks. It's true though, I hardly see anyone using umbrellas or boots, I don't get it. They're either lazy or think it's not "cool", lol. Then they walk around all day with squeaky wet shoes and all wet, lol, that to me is sooooooo uncomfortable/miserable.
spunkygirl 04-06-2007, 02:18 PM I still use an umbrella, mine is a big one, so it's a bitch to carry
mrs.gingerhinkley 04-07-2007, 10:30 AM cool people sing in the rain!
 :D  :D
Mr. Cranky 04-07-2007, 05:16 PM Anyone who goes out in the pouring rain without an umbrella is a total lunatic. It's the equivalent of dumping a bucket of water over your head or taking a shower with your clothes on before you leave for work. Nice way to catch a cold too.

LOL-I know, it wasn't like it was WARM RAIN like in July, it was cold rain and they were just walking in it with no problem

For me, even if it is a warm day, I'd still carry an umbrella. I don't want to get drenched. When I worked, I alway had the proper rain and snow gear. I had a couple of London Fog raincoats. For snowy days, I had ear muffs, hats, gloves, scarfs, water-repellent warm coat, winter boots, (I'd carry my shoes). I always arrived at work dry as a bone, regardless of the weather.
