It was the case where the mother was upset because her son was not home yet. She called out from work to look for him. Her car was later found on fire with her body inside of the car. I can remember the Sheriff and the police Captain were upset over the actually cause of death. The Sheriff thought it was just an accident. The police Captain thought it was murder.

Turns out it was likely her husband who killed her. He was suspected from the beginning, and in 2006 he was called in for another interview about the case. He had been living in Montana, I believe, since Kathy's death. He agreed, but disappeared before arriving for the interview. About three weeks later, his body was found, from a self-inflicted gun shot wound. Police believe that he killed Kathy (she never went out looking for her son), and he drove to the car to the spot, then incinerated it to cover the murder.

Did the police ever find out what the motive was? Did the husband have a large life insurance policy on Kathy? Was Kathy cheating on him & out of jealously, murdered her?

I know the husband killed himself before being questioned, but was wondering if a motive was found.
