View Full Version : Am I the only who loves the Alice Opening Theme Song?
TVFactFan 04-02-2007, 10:27 PM I love it so much that I listened to it 4 Times-lol I love this part of the song below
"There's a New Girl in Town and she's looking good, There's a fresh Freckle Face in the Neighborhood,
LOL
Ireneparalegal 04-02-2007, 10:51 PM I don't like the first season's version.
JAlanRuss72 04-02-2007, 11:11 PM I love the theme song in the early years (seasons 1-3). It was slower and jazzier. I HATED the faster one in the 80s.
catlover79 04-02-2007, 11:27 PM It was an OK song...I actually own it on one of those TV theme CDs. I think the one I have was from one of the early seasons.
I'm so used to seeing Linda Lavin as Wentworth from Barney Miller that I have trouble adjusting to her as Alice...even though that was her signature role...;)
Mr. Television 04-02-2007, 11:29 PM I love the theme song. It's one of the best sitcom songs of all time IMO. I got a chill seeing it tonight. I can't believe Alice is back on tv. They better show all the episodes.
Brian Damage 04-02-2007, 11:34 PM It's a decent song.
Already Gone 04-03-2007, 08:52 AM I love the Alice theme song for the first few seasons as well. I forgot to watch it last night because I was watching the last few episodes of my Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman dvds. I'll record it, starting tonight.

The closing theme is good too

Yeah, they're both really jazzy. That's what alot of the shows now are lacking a really good theme song.

My favorite one is the 3rd season. They had 2 versions (although they were pretty much the same, one was more "echo-y", and the "So Sweeeeeet" part was different). Next favorite would be the 4th season.

The echo effect is cool. I prefer that version.
I *love* the first two theme songs. The original version was used for the first two seasons I think, with the next version (with the new lyrics) being used for three, four, five, and six, and the uptempo arrangement of that version being used for seasons seven through nine.
The first two just bring me BACK to when I watched the show religiously on TNN back in the 1999-2000 timeframe. The first one is probably my favorite because it fit the show so well and the lyrics pretty much told you the feel of the show.
I do have to say, though, that by the fourth or fifth season, Alice was no longer a "newwwwwwww girl in town!!!!!!" so I wonder if they ever thought of changing it up...
Scoobiedoo30 04-09-2007, 02:08 PM I love Alice theme Song
comedyfreak 04-09-2007, 05:02 PM I thought both versions were cool, way better than Flo's theme lol.

Flo's theme song was for the Toilet
fordamian 04-09-2007, 06:23 PM i love theme of first season

Chuck89 04-10-2007, 10:24 PM Alice was signing "It Had To Be You".

In season 2,there was a different version(of the S1 theme)that had a jazzier sound to it. It isn't on the S2 episode on the DVD,but I found that most of the S2 episodes on In2TV have this version.
Season 3 started "Use to be sad,use to be shy" version with 2 other variations of it in S4 and S5.
In Season 6 the cheerier version started and lasted through the end of the series.
Brieannas21 04-11-2007, 12:25 AM I love it, it's sooooooo show tuney with a little jazz thrown in.

There was a shorter version of the 2nd season opening too, and it was a different recording, not just an edited down version like the 1st season short version. Although it did sound almost the same, one of the verses was sung differently between the long and short version.
JNobleBand 04-12-2007, 05:05 PM I've always loved the various Alice theme songs! There were so many... the 70's jazzy sounding stuff takes me back to a simpler time in my life. Linda is 'da bomb! :)
friendsfan77 04-12-2007, 07:47 PM I love both the 1976 and 1978 versions of the theme, the theme from the final years, though, is not a favorite of mine.
Tap Dancer 12-06-2010, 02:35 PM It was an OK song...I actually own it on one of those TV theme CDs. I think the one I have was from one of the early seasons.
What CD is it on?
Edit: Nevermind; I found it. It's on "All-Time Top 100 TV Themes."
