DAMM, ION has sliced and diced the pilot episode of Alice so bad tonight-lol Damm, the show has been on 20 minutes and it has already been FOUR commercials breaks. Talk about making room for more commercials, ION has taken that task to a NEW LEVEL!!!!!!!!. Well i guess a badly chopped episode is better than nothing

I knew that there would be edits, but ION sure did edit out a lot,IMO. (The AOL In2TV episodes are uncut)
They cut to a break in the middle of a scene with Alice and Flo in the diner and came back in the middle of the scene with Alice and with the guy pretending to be an agent.
ION did leave the tag scene in(in S1 some of the episodes had a tag scene)and showed the closing theme announcer and split screen free.

I don't think it was that bad. There was no commercial break after the opening credits, so they really only added 1.
I watched it on AOL, and they cut out three minutes of stuff, making the show run about 22 minutes, which has always been the standard for syndication.

Also, there didn't seem to be any time compression, and they showed the credits full screen.

The video and audio quality was great.

So far, Alice is getting a lot better treatment than Growing Pains did.

and he was the original Tommy from the movie Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore. That was a great movie but I'm so used to seeing Philip McKeon as Tommy anyone else looks strange.

Lots of chops in this episode and on my channel the color green seemed to be very dark and blury but any Alice is better than nothing.

His name is Alfred Lutter (I believe). He also guest starred as Buddy's study partner in a second season ep of Family.

The pilot ep was oddly edited...especially fading to a commercial right in the middle of Flo talking..very irritating but I'm wondering if ION had to do their own editing of this ep since it was really never shown in syndication. Hopefully the other eps are better edited.

I was just going by information by those who claimed to watch the entire E! syndication run and as for TNN I recorded all the eps and never knew the first one was shown. I've neven gotten so much hatemail over this nonsense. People need to get lives instead of getting angry over something like a tv show. GET A LIFE PEOPLE...there is life outside your TV Box!!!!

I watched Alice on WGN for years in the '80s (we had cable), and then on TBS in the late 80s before I FINALLY saw the Pilot episode, but I can't remember which station finally showed it. I think it was TBS, but I know that I had been a fan of the show for a number of years before finally seeing it. Anyway, great show. Glad to see this board come alive again.

I just found out I've got ION channel, so I'll be able to get some better quality Alice episodes than the ones I have now.

Not sure about TBS,but I recall that WGN did air the Alice pilot back in the 80s when they showed the reruns. I also remember that WGN did use the sped up time compression process on its sitcoms around that time.

I don't remember the time compression (not saying it didn't happen, just don't remember it :) ), but I do remember that it was on WGN when I saw the pilot for the first time.
