I avoid most remakes. As for colourization goes, as long as there was no specific intention to make it in B&W like Schindler's List, it looks good and an original B&W copy is kept, I'm for it.

Yes, it bugs me very much when they remake a classic movie or tv series. There hasn't been a remake I like yet, accept for the Brady Bunch movies.

Just about every attempt at colorization I've ever seen looks terrible... all they basically do is color the people and their clothes. 95% of the stuff in the background remains in black and white, and it looks so totally phony.

I've only seen one colorized episode of a sitcom, that was the "I Love Lucy" Christmas episode... I don't remember how good a job they did, but most of the colorizing I've seen has been for old movies, and most if it is terrible.

IMO, if they want to try to colorize something, then fine...but at least do a decent job with it...either color everything in the film, or just leave it in its original form.

One of the better remakes of old classic movies I've seen were the "Father of the Bride" movies with Steve Martin.

Just about every movie adapted from a classic TV show was bad, but I liked both Brady Bunch movies, because of the satrical nature of them.

I liked the new "Thomas Crown Affair" better than the orignal with Steve McQueen. That's one remake I enjoyed much more than the original (it may have helped that I saw the remake first).

But the majority of movie remakes of old classics are just bad. And why were some of these remakes even made? Like "Planet of the Apes" for example... the oringal 1968 movie had to have the greatest ending in the history of motion pictures... why remake it? There's absolutely no way to improve on that one.

I agree, most of the time they should just leave them alone.

The only way remakes could be viewed would be with Mike and the bots from Mystery Science Theater 3000 riffing on it. I'd love to see them hammer all of these remakes and the originals too for that matter. Movies from the black and white years are all racist drivel anyway and Mike always loved tearing them to pieces!
