I have to pick Mr. Carlin from the Bob Newhart Show. He was in BOTH Bob's therapy groups!! Jack Riley's deadpan mannerisms made a hilarious character even more funny.

Close second would be Gladys Kravitz of Bewitched. "ABNER!" She's lucky Abner didn't commit her (although I'm sure he would've liked to!).

Third is Murray Slaughter of the Mary Tyler Moore Show. A recovering compulsive gambler, sweet on his deskmate Mary, struggling to make ends meet for his wife and children, and disappointment in his lackluster career, Murray certainly had his problems. I don't think he would've minded them so much if it hadn't been for the greatest indignity of all...having the incompetent buffoon Ted Baxter mangling his words night after night!!

Felix Unger! And I love Tony Randall for making him so lovable!

Though I love Jack Riley too. He's probably my favorite sitcom guest who never got to star.

Chandler & Monica on Friends are both pretty neurotic. I think CC once even commented about how they're perfect for each other cause of it.

Probably the newest neurotic in sitcom history is Richie from the new comedy "The Class" on CBS.

Richie is a complete mess, but he is funny.

I would have to say Phyllis Lindstrom, from Mary Tyler Moore. She always seemed to go nuts over the littlest things. LOL

Also, Miles Silverberg (Murphy Brown). The poor guy was so stressed out, he practically lived on Mylanta and stuff like that. LOL

My pick would be Monica and Chandler. Monica couldn't leave a mess alone she would clean right away and have to have things arranged in certain ways. Chandler because of his upbringing, I think he was traumatized as a kid.

I wouldn't say Rose was neurotic at all. She was actually pretty optimistic.

She also beat out Debralee Scott for the role of Marty in Grease.

H.M. Murdock (The A-Team) was the only T.V. character in history I know of to be certified insane. However, that's different than neurotic.

I totally agree that George Costanza is neurotic....but on FRIENDS it would have to be Ross...he was constantly obsessing the fact he was divorced three times and telling people he was a doctor, his obsession for Rachel , and when someone touched his sandwich he went insane

Will Truman from Will and Grace was obsessed with being the perfect little hostess and cleaning. His obsessiveness drove his lover Michael away.
