who out there can tell me who was the first white woman to recewive an oscar nomination for portraying a black person?

My guess would be Jeanne Crain, who was nominated for Best Actress in Pinky. She played a black woman who looked white. Her nomination came in the 40s, I don't think there were any earlier. :wave:
