What was the name that Ted messed up in the news broadcast in the season 3 ep: "It's Whether You Win or Lose"? It was at the end of the episode that caused him to lose a bet to Murray. Thanks!

I know!!! That was HILARIOUS!!!!!! One of the good episodes.
MARIE: I went everywhere, even the police. I was thinking Murray might be here.
MARY: No he's not.
MARIE: Oh thank God.

LOL love that line!

Murray wasn't even going to play, until this classic exchange:

Ted: You still playin' tonight, Gordo?
Gordy: Wouldn't miss it for the world, Ted.
Ted: (consults notes) Does, uh, three of a kind beat a flush?
Gordy: The other way around.
Ted: Three of a kind does beat two of a kind?
Gordy: Right.
Ted: (consults notebook again) What's "a kind"?
Murray: (to Mary) All right, I'll play.

That episode had so many funny lines...it was written by Martin Donovan, who only wrote two TMTMSs, but the other one he wrote is also one of my favorites, Farmer Ted and the News. Bravo, Martin, wherever you are!

PGood97041,

Thank you for the information on the writer for these two episodes. They are both very well written and the jokes are ageless. Both episodes look at Ted from different point of view.
This writer has a great view and superb way of working words and characters into the jokes.
His agent in the "Farmer Ted" episode is just adorable!

I found out some more information on him. His real name is "Carlos Enrique Valera Y Peralta-Ramos" and there is a list of shows he wrote for on the following link:

when i get some time i'd like to research more about martin donovan as he relates to TMTMS...he seems to have had a very interesting life pre- and post- those two brilliant scripts, but as soon as he did them he was gone to do other projects

i agree, ted's agent in "farmer ted and the news", bella swan, was cute. it's a real scream when she tells lou the name of ted's stuffed bear when he was a kid, "fuffy", and lou turns to ted and goes "fuffy!", as if to rub it in

another great thing about "farmer ted and the news"...after ted does the commercial for the slicer and dicer, he comes into the office and gets a call from bella to set up his next commercial. but he's got a bandage on his finger, like he'd had an accident during the filming of the commercial

the brilliance is that they don't hit you over the head with it, they don't even mention it...the script is SO good they don't even have to!

I'm pretty sure it's S4. (I'm too lazy to check it right now, LOL!) But I feel fairly confident, so I'm just going to go out on a limb, hehe.

No, actually, it's in Season 3.

Yes, I always loved this episode. While my brother's kids were here a couple weeks ago, I watched that one with her. (I got her Seasons 1-5 for Christmas, and hopfully she'll keep them at her Dad's house)

LOL Love it!

There's a dozen great lines. Here's one I like:

Murray (To Mary): "He's gonna get it right." (Turning to Gordy) "Gordy, $50 he gets it right."

Mary: "Murray, will you stop that!!"

LOL
