Halle Berry came close to committing suicide after the failure of her marriage to baseball star David Justice, but changed her mind at the last minute, fearing her death would leave her mother heartbroken.

The Oscar-winning actress was so depressed after the relationship collapsed in 1997, she started the process of poisoning herself with carbon monoxide in her car.

It took an image of her mother, Judith, finding her body to stop her.

Berry tells Parade magazine, "I was sitting in my car, and I knew the gas was coming, when I had an image of my mother finding me.

"She sacrificed so much for her children, and to end my life would be an incredibly selfish thing to do. It was all about a relationship. My sense of worth was so low. I had to reprogram myself to see the good in me. Because someone didn't love me didn't mean I was unlovable. I promised myself I would never be a coward again."

Damn... I did not know this. She doesen't seem like that kind of person. and unlike T.O. she's got 8 mill reasons to be alive.

I think most ugly women marry the first guy that shows an interest in them; but it also proves that Halle is a human being, and also shows regardless on whom you are, no one is immune to depression or facing the agony of defeat.

It really makes you wonder what kind of guys these are that she keeps choosing... well, I guess we know what kind of guys they are! But whatever it is that makes these guys act like that is beyond me! Just can't relate to that at all.

When I was in my 20s, I was a model, but still I had a boyfriend who cheated on me, and with these UGLY ass women, too!!!

I didn't know she wanted to kill herself until i read about her in Parade magazine a few weeks ago. It's a shame that her ex husbands cheated on her. I didn't know David Justice beat her. I read that he would go to strip clubs while he was married to her. I heard a rumor that Wesley Snipes is the one who hit Halle's eardrum which caused her to be deaf in one of her ears. I saw her new movie Perfect Stranger last weekend and it was very good. The ending will surprise you if you haven't seen it. Halle is on the cover of Ebony magazine now and i saw her in Jet magazine today. I see she got a big booty now LOL. Her butt wasn't that big before. I don't see how Halle is so cute because her mom is ugly. I haven't seen her dad before.
