I know some of you already know this, but for those who didn't read my message on the sports board, I just wanted to let you know that I probably won't be online from Friday, to Tuesday. A friend of mine won tickets to Wrestlemania in Detroit, and invited me as his guest. We'll be staying at a four star hotel, so I might have internet access, and might be able to get online during that time, but I'll have to wait and see. Anyway, just thought I'd let you all know, so you wouldn't wonder where I was. I plan on having a great time!!

I wonder if there will be a mint on my pillow?? I've always wanted to experience the whole mint on a pillow thing that I see in movies. lol

Thanks Lex, I appreciate that. :) I believe we have box seats, so it's not quite front row center, but it's still pretty darn good. I will definitely take pictures of everything, and fill you all in on the details. I'll probably end up making everyone sick of hearing about it, because I don't plan on leaving anything out!!

:sleep2:

 Yep, you're exactly right!! I got home yesterday, ate some dinner, and went right to sleep. Just woke up about an hour ago. My mom came into my room last night to watch The Pursuit of Happyness with me, but said I was breathing real heavy, and was impossible to wake up. I don't even recall her trying to wake me up. LOL!! I think it'll take me atleast a few days to get over this jet leg, and the 3 hour time difference. I still feel like it's 6:32 pm right now, not 3:32. When I do though, I have alot to say regarding my trip, and Wrestlemania. It was awesome!!!!!!!!!! :D

Btw, I was so active on my trip, that I lost 6 pounds!! Damn, I think I need to go on a longer vacation next time!! ;)

PZelda
04-04-2007, 07:18 PM
I know what you mean, Brad. I wasn't fazed by the time difference when I traveled to southern California three weeks ago, but the time change messed with my mind. I would send texts to people back here in ND when it was midnight Pacific time, and I would always forget that it was 2am over here. Or, people back home would text me when it was 5am - 6am their time, and it was 3am - 4am my time.  One night, I was carrying on a conversation via texts with one of my friends for an hour when it was 4 in the ****ing morning... so by the time we wrapped up, it was 5am where I was (Long Beach, CA), and 7am his time. lol

This is why I like living in the Central zone... I have the best of both worlds here. ;) I live literally 45 minutes from the Mountain/Central timezone line. In fact, there are towns around here that literally sit right on that line - one part of town is in Central, and the other half is in the Mountain time zone (one example I can think of is Beulah, ND). It's confusing as hell, lol. Anyway, my point is that if I go over into the Mountain or Eastern time zones, it doesn't faze me - it's only an hour off either way.

Now... Traveling overseas. THAT is hell on your body. It took me two WEEKS to recover from the massive time difference when I flew home from London (six hours ahead of Central), back in 2004. I was ready to go to bed by 6 o'clock at night for these two weeks, because my body thought it was still midnight. When I was in London, I was usually asleep between 11pm to midnight.

Thanks Janice!! :) As much as I enjoyed Detroit, I am soooooo glad to be home. When I got here, I almost started clicking the back of my shoes together, and saying, "There's No Place Like Home", There's No Place Like Home." Detroit was awesome though, as the people were incredibly friendly, and I didn't have a single bad experience with anyone while I was there!!

Pursuit of Happyness was an incredible movie!! I saw it at the three dollar theatre, and it was awesome!! Can't wait to see it again!! :)

ENOUGH REST!

Details, Details!

How was the Stone Cold Movie?

Hey Lex, unfortunately, not all the things that were promised to my friend, ended up coming to fruition. Overall, he was very disappointed. Even though he signed a contract that said we would get to go to all those things including the movie, and the hall of fame, in the end, that didn't happen. Seems that our local WB, and the WWE weren't in very good contact, and because of that there was a bit of a miscommunication. My friend is trying to get some kind of compensation though, because even though it all was free, it was in the written contract that he would get to experience all those things, and since they didn't live up to the contract, I personally think some kind of compensation should be in order for him.

Even though we didn't get to do those things though, we did get to experience Wrestlemania, and it was incredible!!! Our Hotel was only 12 blocks from Ford Field, So we ended up walking there since it was a really nice day. As we were walking, there was a couple guys sitting up in a balcony that started heckling my friend who was wearing an Oregon Ducks shirt. That was pretty funny. When we got to Ford Field, we noticed that the lines were extremely long, so we thought we'd find a place to hang out until the lines got a bit smaller. As we were looking for a place, we looked over and saw Batista shaking hands, and signing autographs. Unfortunately I didn't have a pen or paper, but I did think it would be cool to meet him, so I stood in line, and waited as he got closer and closer. The dude was absolutely HUGE!!! Even wearing a black vest, you could see his muscles and veins, rippling through. As he started getting closer to me, I was perfectly calm, and not a bit nervous. He finally got to me, and I put out my hand, and shook his hand. :D He had a real firm grip, but fortunately he didn't crush my hand or anything. LOL!! Since Batista isn't one of my favorite wrestlers, and since I was hoping the Undertaker would kick his ass, the only thing I could think of to say was how are you doing?? Everyone around me was saying kick Taker's ass, including a guy wearing an Undertaker shirt, But I refused to be phony just because he was standing in front of me.

From there, we noticed that the lines were still pretty long, so we went to this place that I believe was called the beer gardens. It was free admission since it was Wrestlemania, and the place was packed. My friend had a couple beers, getting even drunker than he already was, but I just sat there and watched the rest of the Mavs Suns game. While I was sitting there, there was a commotion outside, as I saw someone yielding a two by four. The place became abuzz, as I guess people thought it might be Hacksaw Jim Duggan. When I got to the window though, it just turned out to be this fat, half naked guy, trying to get attention. It was actually pretty funny.

Finally the lines started thinning out, and so I talked my friend into putting down his beer, and waiting in line. The lines were seperated between men and women, and a bunch of families were getting separated. Fortunately my friend and I were able to stay together, as we slowly worked our way to the front of the line. One thing that I'm extremely disappointed about, was that I chose not to bring my digital camera. :( Would have been nice to get a shot of Batista shaking my hand, as well as all the great action from the show, but at the Hotel, we were told that digital cameras would be allowed at the show, but not any recording devices. Since the digital camera I borrowed had a recording device in it, I wasn't sure whether or not it was allowed, and since we walked up there, we didn't want to chance it not being allowed, only to have to walk all the way back, and miss half the show. We even called beforehand to ask, but it was impossible to get through. Turned out, it would have been allowed, so that really bummed me out. :( I ended up just getting about 16 low quality pics with my disposable camera, but oh well, it's better than nothing.

Anyway, they did a quick little searxch of me, made me take my hat off, and I was in the building. At that moment, the realness of the whole thing finally hit me, as I realized, wow, I'm at Wrestlemania!!! Up until then I didn't get my hopes up, thinking something would go wrong, but at that moment, I was in, and knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that I was going to experience my childhood dream.

I'm getting a little unfocused right now, so I will finish this in a little bit. I know this is probably boring reading for some of you, but hopefully one or two of you can appreciate bits and pieces of this.

To be continued..............

That is too bad you did not get to take all the other events. I am glad you had a good time at Wrestlemania. I would hope they compensate your friend with something especially also considering the problems with getting you on the airplane. It sounds like they put the contest together at last minute.

nevertheless I am sure it was an experience you will never forget.

Brad Russ
04-08-2007, 05:14 PM
Thanks guys. :) yeah, overall I had a great time. The airplanes and airports were complete hell, especially since it was Spring Break, and Wrestlemania. Probably the busiest time of the year for airports, and with the lay overs, and delays, Phew, not exactly a fun time for a guy with agoraphobia and an anxiety disorder. The plane from Phoenix to Detroit was re-routed because of a medical emergency, so that was an extra three hours in the airport right there. Altogether on my first day of flying, I spent 16 hours in airports, and on airplanes. Definitely an experience.

Like I was saying though, every second of my Detroit trip was great, from the Hotel, to the amazing view of Canada, to seeing all the historic sites, to going to Greek Town, and of course to Wrestlemania itself!!! Even getting solicited by a prostitute was kind of funny. My response to her was: I can get sex for free, I don't need to pay for it. To which she replied: I only charge $5.00. To which I replied: Well, you can have $5.00, but you're not getting any action from me. I had won $30.00 in the Casino, so I was feeling a little generous.

Anyway, best part of Wrestlemania was the Undertaker!!! He has been one of my top three wrestlers since forever, and seeing him come out to his music, and having all the lights go out, and the pyro going off was completely surreal for me. Then to top it off with him winning the Championship, and making his Wrestlemania record 15-0, was truly something I will NEVER forget. When he won, and was sitting in the middle of that ring with one knee on the ground, and holding that title out towards the fans, I honestly felt like I was on another planet. I was trying to soak everything in, and just hoping that the moment would never end. For a wrestling fan, this was a moment that will be etched in my mind forever, and like I said, it was the highlight of Wrestlemania for me. That definitely should have been the last match, and the main event. It was 100 times better then the Cena/Shawn match.

Anyway, there's so much more I could talk about in regards to this trip, but I'll quit boring everyone now. I'll be getting some pictures developed soon that I'll probably post on the random picture thread, so be on the lookout for those.

Once again, thanks to everyone for the well wishes, and the kind words you gave me before, during, and after this trip!! :) As scary as this was for me, knowing that I had so many people supporting me, and cheering me on, gave me great comfort, so thanks so much for that!! Hope you're all having a great Easter!!!
