I'm sure everyone is aware that ALICE is starting on ION Monday (2nd)...it has been confirmed that the episodes will be shown in order starting with the rare PILOT episode. I have also heard that depending on the amount of viewers they might start showing two episodes a day in mid May. :D

The PILOT episode is a very good one, and it's interesting to see a different actor (Alfred Lutter III, from the movie) playing Tommy. Mel's Diner looks very different in that episode too.

I believe the pilot episode hasn't been shown in a very, very long time...maybe someone can either confirm or deny that when the E! channel and TNN showed the series the first episode was "Alice Gets A Pass".

The pilot episode is still at the AOL In2TV site, which can be found by doing a search for it there. Not only did the diner look different, but Alice's apartment had a different front door.
The pilot was taped at CBS Television City, not the Warner Brothers Burbank Studios, where Alice was taped for all of its run.

I don't know if TBS ever showed Alice (they may have many years ago), but the last one to show it was TNN (and before that, E!). I know at least one of those two showed the pilot, and I'm pretty sure both did. WGN showed Alice many years ago (mid-late 80's, if I remember correctly), and I remember seeing the pilot then. It was the first time I'd seen it.

I meant TNN and not TBS and no TNN nor E! showed the pilot episode..someone said on another board it's been at least 20 years since it was shown.

I beg to differ...I have all of them on tape from both TNN and E! Just went out and dug out some of them, and found the pilot I taped from E! (it has the E! bug in the corner of the screen). I'm pretty sure it was on TNN too, but I don't have all the tapes handy to find it.

hmmm...I recorded all of TNN's broadcasts..it's possible I missed it. As for E! I'm only going by information on other forums so differ all you want..I didn't get the E! channel until they stopped showing it I can only go by info presented by other people no need to make a fuss about it...we're talking about a TV show not global warming..sheesh some people just don't have lives beyond TV!!!

The pilot was most definitely shown at least once on TNN. I remember it distinctly. If I remember correctly, the last episode aired at 5pm that evening and then the pilot came on at 5:30. This was sometime in late 1999.

Why did they choose to replace Alfred Lutter as Tommy? Of course Philip McKeon was the better choice, but I always wondered why they didn't continue with Lutter, since he was so good in the movie,IMO.
