catlover79 03-28-2007, 10:03 PM Here are my picks, in no particular order:
Barney Miller
Mary Tyler Moore Show
Bob Newhart Show
WKRP
Taxi
My picks are all from the '70s. Not only did that era have the best ensemble casts, they were also the best WRITTEN shows as well.

Adamantium 03-29-2007, 12:10 AM #1 Best Ensemble Cast has got to be the cast of NewsRadio - Dave Foley, Phil Hartman, Andy Dick, Maura Tierney, Stephen Root, Joe Rogan, Vicki Lewis and Khandi Alexander. You can put any two characters together in a scene and they are always funny. ANY two.
#2 Best Ensemble Cast has got to be the cast of Andy Richter Controls the Universe - Andy Richter, Paget Brewster, Jonathan Slavin, Irene Molloy and James Patrick Stuart. I know the show didn't last very long (19 episodes with only 14 aired to be exact) but the cast was great. They played off each other so well. I was really depressed when this show ended. And now, with all the projects the actors are doing (mostly just Richter and Brewster) it's always, to me, a step down from doing "Andy Richter Controls the Universe." Even with Andy's new show, "Andy Barker, P.I." It's a funny show, but in my heart, Andy should still be doing "Controls the Universe" not "Barker P.I." (which I doubt he'll be doing much longer).
#3 Best Ensemble Cast is the cast of Wings - Tim Daly, Steven Weber, Crystal Bernard, Thomas Haden Church, David Schram, Rebecca Schull, Tony Shalhoub, Farrah Forke/Amy Yasbeck. I know this show isn't known in TV history as one of the greats, but to me it is. And that is mainly for the cast. You can take or leave Farrah Forke and her replacement Amy Yasbeck. But the core cast (Daly, Weber, Bernard, Church, Schram, Schull & Shalhoub) are great together. I really think of Joe and Brian as brothers because of the performance by the actors. Not many TV siblings can be convincing, but these are.
#4 Best Ensemble Cast is, of course, the cast of Taxi - Judd Hirsch, Jeff Conaway, Danny DeVito, Marilu Henner, Tony Danza, Christopher Lloyd, Andy Kaufman, Carol Kane and even Randall Carver. This was a classic show with a classic ensemble cast. The great chemistry was there and made the show great.
#5 Best Ensemble Cast is the cast of Friends - Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry. I'm not a HUGE fan of this show. I like it. But there's no denying that this cast was great together. In fact, with a different cast, this show would have tanked. It was the wonderful chemistry of these six actors that made the show worth anything. When the scripts weren't that great, the cast would rise above it, and make it a decent episode.

Gilligan's Island---my heart goes out to that cast because they all had to face HUGE stereotyping after their roles in this show, because, well the characters themselves each had fairly large sterotypes

Dynomite 04-10-2007, 04:09 PM #3 Best Ensemble Cast is the cast of Wings - Tim Daly, Steven Weber, Crystal Bernard, Thomas Haden Church, David Schram, Rebecca Schull, Tony Shalhoub, Farrah Forke/Amy Yasbeck. Speaking of ensemble casts, I like Crystal Bernard, especially during her one season on Happy Days. I thought the best part about that one season was when she and Erin Moran appeared as the Cunningham cousins. Crystal and Erin certainly interracted well with each other as well as with Cathy Silvers and Henry Winkler. It's really a shame that Crystal didn't have a chance to work alonside Ron Howard and Don Most(they left in 1980). What would it have been like of K.C. picked up on some of Ralph Malph's jokes or had her older cousin Richie looking over her shoulder, nearly in the same manner as he was looking over Joanie's shoulder. Obviously, K.C. took over Richie's old room after he went to the Army and eventually married Lori Beth(Joanie returned home during early 1983). To me, Happy Days' only bright spot of the 1982-83 season was Crystal Bernard as K.C. Cunningham. I didn't care too much for K.C.'s cousin, Flip, but I liked seeing her and Joanie together in a few episodes that season.
