View Full Version : Season 4 snelson 03-26-2007, 07:17 PM when does season 4 come out? CAJeannieFan57 03-27-2007, 08:07 PM It's barely been two months since season 3 came out, so there's no word yet about Season 4. You might log into www.tvshowsondvd.com and register to be notified when releases of your favorite show/s is/are announced. As soon as they get any inkling of information that's more than a rumor, they send out emails. My guess would be anytime between end of May and end of August. Season 1 came out in March last year, season two in July, season 3 came out in January of this year. So there's no regularity in the rhythm of release. ercjncpr 03-28-2007, 12:30 PM It's barely been two months since season 3 came out, so there's no word yet about Season 4. Especially with Sony...they have not even made an announcement about Bewitched #5 and season 4 of that show came out last October IDoJOnline 03-30-2007, 08:24 PM We're just now starting work on the Season 4 packaging, so I'm guessing a few months from now, maybe early fall? Lee G 03-31-2007, 10:42 AM I will be reading reviews and consumer comments before I spend any money on season four. Season three turned out like crap. Mislabeling on the DVD cases, fake artwork, chopped up episodes and defects in the video quality. Season three of IDOJ is one of the poorest DVD releases I have ever seen. Sony should be ashamed of themselves, but apparently they don't care. I sent them an e mail informing them of the problems with season three, of course the scoundrels never sent back a reply. I'm not surprised. IDoJOnline 05-31-2007, 05:14 PM I will be reading reviews and consumer comments before I spend any money on season four. Season three turned out like crap. You lost me there. The picture of Barbara Eden/Jeannie on the plastic slipcase that holds discs 1 and 2 is an altered/touched up photograph. What kind of junk is that? And those sneaky scoundrels at Sony put cut/edited episodes on the DVD's. Meet My Masters Mother and the Bootsie Nightingale episode both have stuff missing from the episodes. The cuts are small, but they are edits nonetheless. Totally inexcusable. Subspace 06-19-2007, 09:51 PM It's barely been two months since season 3 came out, so there's no word yet about Season 4. I know that this was already announced in another thread... but just to complete this thread: Based on the Jeannie Sisters' Website (http://www.geocities.com/jeanniesisters/), Season 4 DVDs for IDOJ will be released on September 4th (2007). Yay! :D CAJeannieFan57 06-19-2007, 11:08 PM Thanks for the credit, but we just passed on what we heard - TVShowsonDVD.com announced that Season 4 would be released on Sept 4th. THEY found it on Amazon.com's presales list, which has been very accurate. Sony has not made an official announcement yet. I'm sure that will come very soon! IDoJOnline 06-20-2007, 01:16 PM The picture of Barbara Eden/Jeannie on the plastic slipcase that holds discs 1 and 2 is an altered/touched up photograph. What kind of junk is that? That was a mistake made by Sony. When they asked for artwork of Barbara Eden I sent them that, it was my work and looked a million times better before the bufoons who do the actual editing of the graphics ruined it. I'll post a clear version of what the original looked like. When I found out they were going to use it as a graphic, in large scale I told them it wouldn't do well because it was not meant to look realistic at all, it was an artistic creation not a photograph. But they went ahead with it anyway. Lee G 06-20-2007, 01:47 PM That was a mistake made by Sony. But they went ahead with it anyway. So they decided to use your artistic creation instead of an actual photograph? The season 3 DVD's are a mess. They should recall all the sets, make the proper corrections and reissue it. I hope they do a lot better job with season 4. Seasons 1 and 2 turned out OK for the most part. IDoJOnline 06-21-2007, 08:44 PM So they decided to use your artistic creation instead of an actual photograph? The season 3 DVD's are a mess. They should recall all the sets, make the proper corrections and reissue it. I hope they do a lot better job with season 4. Seasons 1 and 2 turned out OK for the most part. The artwork they used was art painted digitally over a photograph. They had the option of using the photo and they used the artwork instead. Then before production they did some horrible color adjustment and tint and really made the art look horrible. I also did the cartoon artwork for the boxed set for Season 3 through 5. This seasons packaging looks good. It has Djinn Djiin on the front, and on the back it has a montage of images of Barbara in various costumes/outfits. The interior disks have reveal images on them and beneath them so when you take out the disk it has another image underneath. It looks really good. As for season 3's errors, the Sony people knew about the errors and felt they were minor enough to ignore. Which stinks. As for the syndicated episodes instead of masters being used, I think what I heard was they only had the syndicated masters for those certain episodes. As for Season 4, no extra features and from what I understand, the same bland boring interactive menus with bad artwork (which I had nothing to do with). Subspace 06-21-2007, 10:42 PM Wait... boxed set for Season 3 - 5? Are they going to make us buy Seasons 3 and 4 again just so we can get Season 5? I hope not... IDoJOnline 06-21-2007, 11:31 PM Wait... boxed set for Season 3 - 5? Are they going to make us buy Seasons 3 and 4 again just so we can get Season 5? I hope not... Sorry it was a typo on my part, Boxed SetS for seasons 3 - 5... one season per set. ;) Heidi Dawn 06-25-2007, 10:30 AM Here's the official press release from Sony and cover art design: http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=7546 http://www.tvshowsondvd.net/graphics/news3/IDreamOfJeannie_S4.jpg Scoobiedoo30 06-29-2007, 07:17 PM Awsome cover art likewow 07-08-2007, 02:12 PM Season four has the highest ratio of favorite moments of any season! The missed anniversary, Tony's double, Jeannie and the used car dealer, Jeannie II makes Tony fat, the General's hippie daughter, the nosy reporter, the automatic house, Jeannie II's marriage lessons, Dr. Bellows gets fired, Laugh In, small town court case, Jeannie blinks herself on the space craft... I can't wait for this season! CAJeannieFan57 07-09-2007, 11:26 AM I'll bet Larry Hagman isn't too pleased with the cover art, or won't be when it comes out if he hasn't seen it yet. He's in the back of the group, behind Major Healey and Djinn-Djinn, and wearing his boxer outfit! I personally like the cover, but I don't really care much about cover art. To me, it's what's inside on the disks that counts - and I hope they don't think flaws are "minor". One flaw on season 3 happened to be on a friend's favorite episode in that season. Heidi Dawn 07-09-2007, 03:33 PM I'm not really concerned what the cover art looks like (I like season 4's though). It's the inside that counts, like CAJeannieFan57 said. storrs19 07-28-2007, 08:50 AM Season 4 does have some real delights in it including some of my top 10 favorite episodes of all time including: Jeannie & The Used Car Dealer and Jeannie & The Small Town Court Case. Those two are a real hoot. I just love that expression on Dr. Bellows face when Jeannie "speeds him up" to get to court. Priceless. TV Knowledge Fan 07-28-2007, 11:16 AM ...that this season (1968-'69) was a very difficult one for Larry. This was during the period he had his "nervous breakdown"....and insisted he would only work with Barbara on-camera for limited amounts of time. If you notice, during most of the episodes in season 4, they shared very few scenes together. Most of the time, they worked separately. The way James Henerson and Sidney Sheldon worked it was this: there would be at least one or two key scenes of Jeannie and Tony together, in each episode. Then, according to the plot, they'd somehow "separate" from each other- or there'd be scenes where they'd be "spliced" together in the same scene without actually appearing in the same frame. One of the best examples is "The Indispensible Jeannie" [11/25/68]. At the beginning, after saying goodbye to "Master", Jeannie conveniently disappears to visit "Mama", leaving Tony and Roger to fend for themselves in their "closed quarters experiment". She re-appears in the middle (ALONE), reacts to the big mess "Master" has made, blinks the house on "automatic", and does not re-appear until the climax where the roof literally falls in over Tony & Roger's heads. Tony then has the idea to irritate Dr. and Mrs. Bellows so that he won't split him and Roger up, and starts to spell it out to Jeannie....and the rest of the episode, we see Jeannie, in miniature, hiding as she causes the fight with the Bellows', as Tony and Roger make their well-timed entrance. This episode is among the best of Larry and Bill's joint efforts, but Barbara hardly appears for less than four minutes of screen time- and ONLY about two of them with Larry! Other notable examples of this "separation" include "Abdullah", "Have You Heard the One About the Used Car Salesman?" {yes, that's the full title}, "Jeannie and the Top-Secret Secret" {ditto}, "How To Marry An Astronaut", "Jeannie My Guru", "Ride 'Em, Astronaut" (which had to use the end of "Tony's Wife" [11/28/67] because Larry wasn't available to finish the episode), "Invisible House For Sale", and "The Biggest Star In Hollywood". A good season, to be sure- but a lot of turmoil behind it, and most of it was due to Larry. :tv: Lee G 07-30-2007, 12:16 PM Season 4 does have some real delights in it including some of my top 10 favorite episodes of all time including: Jeannie & The Used Car Dealer and Jeannie & The Small Town Court Case. There is no episode in season 4 with the title- Jeannie & The Small Town Court Case. TV Knowledge Fan 07-30-2007, 05:17 PM ..."Jeannie For the Defense" {a play on the title of a popular TV lawyer drama at the time, "JUDD FOR THE DEFENSE"}. :tv: Lee G 07-31-2007, 12:15 PM ..."Jeannie For the Defense" {a play on the title of a popular TV lawyer drama at the time, "JUDD FOR THE DEFENSE"}. :tv: Yes, that's the correct title. Also in this episode, I believe Tony and Roger do not wear their NASA uniforms. TV Knowledge Fan 08-01-2007, 08:11 PM ...the idea was for Tony to be on "vacation", hence no need to wear his uniform. Roger is not "on duty", so he's in "civvies" as well.... :) Lee G 08-04-2007, 10:10 AM Before I buy season four, I'm going to read reviews and consumer comments first. I want to see if the clowns at Sony continue their practice of cutting a few seconds from selected episodes. I wouldn't be surprised if the episodes are not completely uncut. Robert 13 09-11-2007, 10:53 AM I got my copy today. It's so exciting to have a new season of IDOJ on dvd. Only one more to go. I wonder how they will handle the TV movies. It would be nice if they finished the series with a mega-box set and included a bonus disc with the tv movies on it. I haven't watched Season 4 yet but I must say the artwork is nice. The discs have action shots from the show this time around. The snap-cases each have a different picture of Jeannie on them. One case is pinkish and the other is blue, I believe. I looked through it real quick because I had to leave for work. Hope everyone enjoys their sets! :) Heidi Dawn 09-11-2007, 01:42 PM I got mine today at Wal-Mart, I may watch some tonight. Only one more season to go. CAJeannieFan57 09-11-2007, 10:43 PM Got mine! I heard some new lines in UF Ohhhhh Jeannie that I've never heard before. I just started Pipchicks (going in order right now) and so far, so good...haven't seen any obvious cuts. Then again, I only have a few episodes on VHS from Columbia House....most of mine were syndicated tapes off TV Land or other. What *I* noticed (you won't be surprised) is how much weight Bill Daily gained between Season 4 IDOJ and season 1 TBNS (which was on last night). I mean, how must Barbara have felt, when her co-partner insists only to work for a limited amount of time in front of the camera. I wonder how she dealt with that and how they got along each other after season 4? likewow 10-26-2007, 04:24 PM I'd never heard of friction between them, either. Whatever happened, Barbara must not have taken it personally, since they worked together after the show:) |
