heard a rumour (I can't remember where I heard it) that the producers of 'Caroline In The City' and/or the network (NBC?) wanted to replace Lea halfway through the series and replace her with another actress, but the other actors on the show did not want her replaced so she was retained. Is this true or has anyone else heard this rumour?

sounds highly unlikely to me, especially as she was cast as the lead character

well out of the whole cast she was the more established and well known, having already appeared in the back to the future trilogy, which almost all of us are familiar with. and so i very much doubt it. but if that was true and had lea been axed, then the replacement actress would never have performed that role as well as or better than she had done herself

was she getting other work, or . . . .
