You seem to be unable to grasp a very simple concept about Three's Company:
Most of the plots revolved around a sacrifice in reality for the sake of making the show funny. No, the shows were not perfectly realistic. But that's what made them funny.
You ask why Furley didn't fill out applications and get written confirmation about the job.....because that wouldn't have been funny or interesting at all. It's a sitcom. Your goal is to make people laugh. If you make everyone in the show smart and reasonable there's nothing to laugh at.

I liked this episode, but Mr. Furley didn't go about it the right way. He should have asked to check out this Paradise Valley before picking up an old man and putting him back in a Taxi Cab instead of taking an old man's word for it.
