I love MASH for its comedy, not its drama. But even I have my favorite serious moments. I find I like the serious moments from the earlier episodes better, probably because there weren't so damn many.
1. Henry Blake's plane goes down. Tragic, but a very powerful moment.
2. Hawk stops Trapper from killing the wounded North Korean.
3. Henry comforts Hawkeye after Hawk's friend is killed in battle.
4. Almost any dramatic moment with Charles. He was always portrayed as being such a horse's rump that it was nice to see a vulnerable and human side to him every so often, something they rarely, if ever, did with Frank.
5. The one with the soldier with amnesia whose brother was killed in action. I don't know why, but that scene where he cries out for his dead brother gets me every time.
