I do not post near as much on this site as I should, My 2 favorite TV shows in Tv history are Gilligans island and The greatest american hero, but GI was my first, anyway to the headline.

It was on an interview back in the late 80s on the ross shaffer show with the original cast of gilligans island, Jim Bacus told ross that The actor Gregory Peck loved the show he said he wouldn't miss it, its funny the only people who said they hated the show were the critics, but I bet the critics secretly watched it behind closed doors.

Yes he was; and the fact the he was a GI fan is just one more piece of evidence that proves it.

Even though he was in an episode, Don Rickles said somewhere he really liked watching the show.

Really... Don Rickles??? I thought he was the one that gave the poor cast a really hard time during filming the episode...

Many people think that about Don Rickles because of the style of his humor, but I've always heard he's quite different when he's not "on." Best example I ever saw of this was when I was watching Don Adams' 75th birthday party on the Get Smart special features----when Rickles got up to talk he spent half his time ripping Adams to shreds, but concluded with some serious and touching comments that made everyone (including him) tear up.

When I was younger, I remember one of my dad's friends, then a retired NYC detective, who was a really serious guy in some ways--say how every afternoon he would unwind watching GI reruns; he wouldn't miss it for anything. If it is true that laughter is good for your soul, the last time I saw this guy he was in his late 80's, and going strong. Goodness knows how long he lived. All right, maybe it was his genes that kept him healthy, but I think that Paul (my dad's friend) was one of the most balanced individuals I've ever met. I think it's good to laugh a little every day, and take time to enjoy your life. When you watch a great sitcom like GI, it teaches you to not take things too seriously.
