Stuart Rosenberg, a leading Hollywood director, died at 79. His best known films were 1967's Cool Hand Luke and 1979's The Amityville Horror. He also made 1969's The April Fools, which featured Catherine Deneuve in her first Hollywood movie.

Among his other pictures were The Laughing Policeman, Brubaker, The Pope of Greenwich Village, and Voyage of the Damned (about Jewish refguees forced to return to Nazi Germany, and not to be confused with Village of the Damned.) RIP. :(
