He has early in the season before he was hurt. The Mavs have had no one to stop him. He's put up solid numbers against the Spurs and put over 30 on Shaq and the Heat. The Suns are the one team that really give him a hard time and he has had some good games against them in past years. They double him befor ehe even gets the ball. Thats' why I wish the NBA would get rid of the damn zone!! Go back to playing "D" one on one then have a man double down. Not this college crap that they can get away with now.

Yao had 36 against the Mavs on 11/4/06.

He had 34 and 14 on 11/12/06 vs the Heat before Shaq got hurt.

He had 20 on 11/14/06 vs the Spurs.

He had 22 on 12/22/06 vs the Spurs.

He was injured the next night. There was talk of him as the leading player for the MVP before he got hurt. I hope like hell he can win it one of these years just for you Sol!!!:lol: :lol:

Any coach who has coached him says he is one of the most intelligent basketball players out there. He has great court awareness, easy to coach(unlike most players these days), works hard in practice.....never heard any coach or any of his current or former teammates say he gets "confused".

Give me one example of how he became "confused" in a close game.

The post I made about him is on the sports board. It was 2 years ago and I remember being so pissed of because he just seem not to understand anything once the game was close. I was thinking-"It must be nerves"

He carried those numbers over to this season before he got hurt. Since coming back from a broken weight baring bone in his leg he's averaging around 22-23 pts and 9-10 boards a game. Maybe quit relying on 2 year old bias and actually watch him and look at some box scores to get a better understanding.

And lets take into consideration that 2 years ago he was still trying to adapt to a new country. You just don't come to a new land, a new culture, and a new way of playing basketball and expect to dominate right away. Chinese(?) basketball looks at the team first and the individual second. Unlike American ball were most players play for themselves first and the team second. American style ball is also alot more physical. Yao had to learn and is still learning that side of the game.

I guess only for you. It's not like he hasn't been playing this game professionally since he was 16 for the Chineese National team. I doubt very seriously that he gets nervous anymore.

He finished with 32 pts and 14 boards last night against the Pacers AND had 13 of his 32 in the forth quarter when the game was still on the line. Didn't look nervous in crunch time at all.

The one thing that he does do that agrivates me is when he's outside of the paint and an outside shot goes up, alot of the time he'll start running back down court before the ball even hits the rim. He should be in there battling for the rebound. It suprises me that Van Gundy doesn't point that out to him or maybe he wants him to hurry up and get back down court on defense.

It looks like their first round match-up will be Utah. They can beat them. And honestly, if they get on a roll they can give both San Antonio and Dallas a good long series. They took Dallas to 7 games 2 years ago with less talent. There's just no way they can match-up with Phoenix though. They won't let Yao get the ball. If I was Van Gundy I'd do what Rudy T did for Dream. Set a low pick and let him come out to the free-throw line and take the jump shot. Dream made a living with that shot and Yao is a good enough shooter to take more outside shots when they won't let him post up.

I guess the answer to the question is, realistically, they'll win the first round but get bounced in the 2nd.
