From 1962 to 1966, MCHALE'S NAVY was ABC's must-see comedy series. The series was set in Pacific theatre of World War II and focused on the crew of the PT 73, led by Lt. Cdr. Quinton McHale (Ernest Borgnine). McHale's second in command is Ensign Charles Parker (Tim Conaway). Also in the cast were McHale's commander, Captain Wallace Burton Binghamton (Joe Flynn) and his aid, Lt. Elroy Carpenter (Don Hastings). Rounding out the exceptional cast are future MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW regular Gavin McLeod as Joseph Haines, and Yoshio Yoda as Fuji, a Japanese P.O.W. The plots usually revolved around the efforts of Captain Binghamton to rid himself of the crew of PT 73.

That was quite a concise review...except BOB Hastings played Carpenter, not Don. Don was on As The World Turns for all those years.

I'm glad to hear they are black and white and not colorized. I recently saw some MN clips on YouTube that were in color and I thought. "Oh my God, say it ain't so!".

hey i thought my set was in color,i thought Bewitched and I Dream Of Jeannie was done well in color their original black and white seasons. They could always have one side of disc in color or black or white if people like to see it,i wouldn't take much notice on your tube the quality on that is always poor.
