Good morning, my friends! What's on everyone's agenda this weekend? We're sort of snowed in, so I'm staying put. I'm loving this St. Patrick's Day color scheme. Thank you TJ. Someone pass the Irish soda bread please.

I have been real busy the last few weeks so I am glad I finaly found time to post. I am off today so I am going to try to catch up here. swedeace 03-17-2007, 10:42 AM Good morning! Love all the green! It's now 8:37 a.m. MDT, and I just woke up about 20 minutes ago. Despite still feeling quite exhausted from hanging out with visiting Mexican relatives (didn't get to bed until 2 a.m.), I can't wait to spend more time with them. I hope to do a quick clean of my apartment this morning. Then, I will have a brunch with my relatives at my mom's house where they are staying. I want them to stay over my place tonight, at least. I will then go to work for five hours in the afternoon and then meet up with them after work to go to an uncle's house because today is also my cousin's husband's birthday. They've never heard of St. Patrick's Day, so I was telling them about it and told them they ought to wear a green theme. They're looking for green shirts and blouses. Hehe... After that, I hope they will be up to do some kind of St. Patrick's Day outing somewhere in my city. I want them to experience St. Patrick's Day and see more people wearing green. Quite a busy day today. Brad Russ 03-17-2007, 11:35 AM Good morning people's, and Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone!!! Remember, if you don't want to get pinched by pesky little Irishmen, wear green!!! Or you could just do what I did throughout my school days, and purposely not wear green, just so you can get a little attention from the ladies!! ;) Hey, if there's a day each year where the ladies who wouldn't normally touch me with a 10 foot pole, are going to be clamoring all over themselves to pinch me, that's an opportunity I just can't pass up!!! ;) Anyway, today's looking pretty good. I'm finally going to get that haircut which I was going to get last week, but put off. It's gotten way too long. It's suppose to be a pretty nice day, with temperatures getting into the 60's, so I'm going to try and enjoy the weather as much as I can. I'll probably get a ride down to the river, and stay there for a few hours. I'll bring my camera, and get some pictures. I'm also going to the car shop with my mom to get her oil changed. She wants me to go, because they're always trying to convince her that she needs other stuff done when she goes alone, but they don't do that when I'm with her. I don't know crap about cars, but I guess I look like I do. I'm also probably going to go down to my friends garage, and watched some March Madness with him and his buddy Mike. That's always fun! So, those are pretty much my plans for Saturday. Hope you all have a great one!! Brian Damage 03-17-2007, 01:30 PM Top O' the mornin' to you all...or should I say afternoon. LOL I just came from shoveling outside and I am exhausted. It all froze to ice, so it was doubley hard to shovel the slop. I hate snow with a passion! Already Gone 03-17-2007, 01:43 PM Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone. We're snowed in here too. We no longer have a mailbox thanks to the plows that came buy our house. That may be on the agenda for tomorrow. I'll probably go out later to clean my car off. Other than that, it's going to be quiet as usual. I hate snow with a passion too. TJL 03-17-2007, 02:08 PM Happy St. Patrick's Day folks. Man, what a crappy snowstorm that was yesterday. We got about 5 inches of the stuff in the city. It wasn't snow, just that frezzing rain/sleet stuff. I worked at the Gaf last night, but the bad weather kept the patrons away. It was very quiet the whole night - just a handful of my friends from the neighborhood (and my roommate) came out in the slush for some fun. It's a good thing the place was empty - we were able to remove all the tables and stools from the bar and take them downstairs to the storage room without any problems. Every year we "baby proof" the bar for the big St. Patty's day crowds; no glass, no chairs, nothing that can be broken. Everything is served in plastic cups for easy cleanup. Another bonus about having an empty bar, I got in some face time with this very attractive semi regular gal who it turns out is a big fan of the Gaf Myspace page I've been writing. Long story short, I got her number and we're going to see a movie next weekend. Kickass! Anyhoo, the city is a big slushy mess today, but the green clad revellers are already out and about. I have to report to the Gaf at 5 to hang out up front and check I.D's and such. Hopefully it won't be too crazy, but since it's a nice sunny day, I have a feeling things will get busy tonight. Wish me luck. ;) Already Gone 03-17-2007, 02:41 PM Happy St. Patrick's Day folks. Man, what a crappy snowstorm that was yesterday. We got about 5 inches of the stuff in the city. Czas na Zywiec 03-17-2007, 03:11 PM happy st. patty's day. it's not snowing here FOR ONCE so it's about 70. feel free to be jealous. :D Brian Damage 03-17-2007, 04:34 PM Has anybody else notice how dead this place has been lately? It is very annoying. lol dawsongirl 03-17-2007, 09:35 PM I'm late. lol I'm trying to get over a whole bunch of crap that hit me Thursday, so I'm staying in and resting a lot. Did get out to do some grocery shopping though and found some pills I wanted. Who knew I'd ever willingly take a capsule full of bacteria? Anyway, this week is spring break, so I plan on sleeping and cleaning. And trying not to spend money. Dr. Jazz 03-18-2007, 02:37 AM It's 02:35 and I'm still at work. Been a busy night - I worked a DUI checkpoint, and it being St. Patrick's Day, there were plenty drunk drivers out tonight that we got off the roads before they could do any damage. Last night, I responded to a fatal crash - this poor girl was 16 and just got her driver's license and for some reason was driving on the wrong side of the interstate. She collided head-on with a truck and was killed instantly. Me and two other officers had to go to her home to inform her parents. Not a good night. freshprinceofLA 03-18-2007, 02:40 AM Finally got time to post but today hung out with friends. I did not want to be stuck in the house doing nothing. I had like 13 hrs of sleep and I'm still kinda tired. That's terrific news, and as you might imagine, I expect a detailed report of this date. ;) Brian Damage 03-18-2007, 11:32 AM Snow + Cold = Ice Shoveling Ice = back pain :( swedeace 03-18-2007, 11:35 AM Good morning! I didn't come home until after 2:00 a.m. this morning, and it's currently 9:34 a.m. I only had about six hours of sleep. Today is my cousins' last visiting day, so I don't know what to have planned for today. Oh, yes, I forgot....one of my aunts invited us to have some posole (pork and hominy stew) at her house for brunch today. Good! I am starving right now! That should be in about two hours or so. TJL 03-18-2007, 05:35 PM Never Again! Mark the day, date, and time my friends - I TJL do hearby swear that I will never EVER work at the Gaf on St. Patrick's Day! Next year, I won't even go out on St. Patrick's Day! What a nightmare. There is a reason that serious men and women of the drink refer to St. Patrick's Day (and New Year's Eve) as Ameteur Night, for every drunken idiot from the entire tri state area (and other parts of the USA, according to the driver's licenses handed me) was yelling screaming, and spilling inside my bar! Of course what ameteur night wouldn't be complete without a few dustups and shoving matches. Nothing gets a stumbling drunk ameteur more incensed when he is told that he can't have any more - that and his equally drunken buddies egging said ameteur into starting something with an overworked bartender half his size. Luckily, we had a little ace up our sleeve, in the form of about a dozen off duty firemen and Police officers who were also partying in the bar (a few of them are friends with the staff) and provided much needed assistance in extracting the troublemakers from the premesis. I cannot tell you how funny it is to see a trio of tough guys who were threatening everyone in the bar suddenly grow silent and agreeable when several men of equal or greater size appear from out of the crowd, surround them and order them to take thier business elsewhere. Such terrible manners. As I had hoped, the crowds died down as the evening wore on because true amateurs don't have the stamina to drink from noon until 4 AM like the pros. It's not a sprint folks, it's a marathon. We pushed the last few stragglers out at 4 and then brought the chairs up from the downstairs storage room. The Gaf finally looked like a bar again! What a day. Never again people, never again. ;) Brian Damage 03-18-2007, 06:22 PM Wow, that sounds like it really sucked! Amazing how a little liquor can make a guy think he is Rocky Balboa. LOL The bright side of it, you got that little chickadee's number. ;) TJL 03-18-2007, 06:45 PM Wow, that sounds like it really sucked! Amazing how a little liquor can make a guy think he is Rocky Balboa. LOL The bright side of it, you got that little chickadee's number. ;) As a matter of fact, she showed up at the bar with a few friends yesterday, but I was busy trying to keep an eye on the door and another eye on the drunks. As far as i know, we are still on for a movie next weekend. Janice 03-18-2007, 07:04 PM That's one wild and crazy night TJL. I can only imagine the Boston bars too, especially in Irish South Boston (Southie....The Departed). I'm glad you made it through okay. You have to be careful. You just never know. Ireneparalegal 03-18-2007, 07:09 PM Good day all. Wow, it is dead around here. I have noticed there hasn't been much posting around here. Well, I wasn't online yesterday. Me and my boyfriend and our son went to Anaheim to visit this huge car warehouse place so he could buy parts for this car he is restoring. We then hit Disneyland theme street. It is right in front of Disneyland. It has shops, restaurants and other stuff. We took a stroll there. The day was beautiful, very warm and sunny. After that, we hit Beverly Hills and had a late lunch at a restaurant. Then, we stopped at Los Angeles County Museum and checked out La Brea Tar Pits. We had been there before but it was our son's first time. He was scared of all the fossils and the huge skeletons they had on display. All in all it was a very busy day. We left at 9 in the morning and got home at 8pm. I was DEAD TIRED. dawsongirl 03-18-2007, 10:12 PM It's 02:35 and I'm still at work. Janice 03-18-2007, 11:40 PM Another weekend gone. PZelda 03-19-2007, 04:18 PM I know I'm late to this one, but suck it up. Becuase I was in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA! Booyeah! I went out with Tara -- yes, the one and only Hollywood Rock Chic -- on Friday night, and we had a lot of fun. :D She's really skinny and she towered over me (I'm just a lil petite 5'3 tall gal  ). When we went out for dinner, I was the only one eating -- she didn't order anything to eat, altho she did order some wine. :) They gave me the wrong food (SEAFOOD ON MY PLATE GROSS I DON'T EAT SEAFOOD :grr: ), and it took a while to get the correct food... but it was all good. I'm just glad they weren't *******s about fixing my order. :) I got pix too, but so far I have only one posted here. This guy Tara knows came to sit with her at our table for a little while, and he was really great-looking... so naturally I flirted with him for a little while. Ya guys gotta ask her about it, haha. She told me later that he was 46 years old (more than 2x my age), and I think I turned a fiery shade of red.  Saturday, I spent the day @ Universal Studios in Los Angeles... that was a blast. :D Sunday, I flew back home... I didn't touch down until 10:40pm, and a guy friend of mine picked me up from the airport. So I didn't get home - FOR REAL, until just before noon today. So I haven't been home that long now. Number 9 Dream 03-19-2007, 07:37 PM I'm glad you had an awesome time, Allison :) So glad you got to meet Tara too, woo hoo! :D I was also away this weekend, except I was in New Jersey, trying to battle the bad weather along with everyone else. I was waiting at the Secaucus Junction for about three hours while my friend maneuvered through bad conditions to come get me. Beatlefest was fun, though :D Even more fun when I'm spending it with drunken strangers on St. Patty's Day ;) |
