Johnny Depp's 7-year-old daughter, Lily-Rose, has been released from a hospital in London after a frightening bout of blood poisoning.

Depp and partner Vanessa Paradis had been keeping a vigil at the child's bedside since she was admitted to London's Great Ormond Street Hospital over the end of February.

A source close to Depp tells Us Weekly magazine, "She is doing much better."

Despite media reports she had developed the condition after stepping on a rusty nail, the cause has not been confirmed.

The source says, "They don't know how she got it."

The 43-year-old actor is currently filming a movie version of the stage musical Sweeney Todd in England, which was temporarily put on hold while his daughter was in the hospital.

Oh man - I came down with that when *I* was 7 - had pneumonia at the same time - easily the worst couple of weeks of my life.

Glad to hear she's doing better!

That's great news, but quite an ordeal for the little girl and her family. If the rusty nail story is true, that's scary. I'm always after my husband for walking barefoot, as he has diabetes, although we don't have rusty nails around, but you never know. A similiar incident happened to my husband's father....a nail, he was diabetic, so it took forever to heal.. He ended up in a rehab center for a month. A former boss of mine almost lost his foot because a piece of his dog's hair went under the nail of his big toe and infected his entire foot. He was a diabetic as well. He needed surgery and was in the hospital for weeks.

This is the first I've heard of it. Glad to hear she's doing better.

As Janice says, it can take nothing to get blood poisoning. I let an abcessed tooth go for a while since it had already been root canaled and I wasn't getting any pain from the area. What I didn't know, is that the infection was backing up into my blood and even my skull. I just felt lousy all over and didn't know why until I woke one morning with the left side of my entire head swollen right up. Got into the dentist and he sent me to hospital right away. Turned out it was the beginning of blood poisoning. Not fun at all - especially when it's a little kid.
