I crack my back, neck, fingers can that cause arthritis or is that just a myth. Just wondering cause I do it a lot. If it can cause serious health problems I'll try to stop.

I've been actually cracking my fingers since the 3rd grade. How about the back or the neck?

I just read an article saying that cracking your neck increase your chance of getting a stroke.

I'm 42 and I figure if it hasn't bothered me before now, It probably won't.

I'm double jointed on my wrist and I crack it a lot when I'm bored. I wonder if that will bother me in the future.

I'm no Dr. so I obviously can't say for sure. If it concerns you now at 15 then maybe you should consider quitting now while you're still young.

I've read that cracking joints wears away the cartilage surrounding the bone, and can cause arthritis as you get older. My brother used to crack his neck something awful, but he stopped after I told him about an article I read that doing that actually weakens the neck joints....and can make it difficult for the neck to support the head properly. I wouldn't crack joints. I don't think it's a good idea.

I've read it's a myth. But I'd rather stop and have healthy joints than continue on the word of doctors... You know, the word that tends to change every ten to twenty years, anyway.

I've recently started popping my knuckles again after a few years of stopping. It seems to help relieve some of the pressure in my joints.

In anycase, I'd stop. It becomes a habit, and a nasty habit, it is! Neck-cracking is not very dignified!

I think that popping sound is a release of air between joints or something...I read that somewhere. But it's still not a good idea to force your joints to make that air escape. It has to be there for a reason. It's not natural either.

My mom used to always tell me that I'd get arthritis. I did some research and I found that the only problem that it causes is problems with grip in later life.
