National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983)
The Griswold family, father Clark (Chevy Chase), wife Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo), daughter Audrey (Dana Barron) and son Rusty (Anthony Michael Hall), set out in high spirit to spend their vacation driving cross-country from Chicago to a glorious climax in Walley World on the West Coast. The trip which Clark planned down to the minute, slowly loses its smoothness from the moment the first grain of sand gets in. A meeting with constantly-in-debt, simple-minded cousin Eddie results in the Griswold family giving cantankerous aunt Edna a lift to Phoenix. Of course, the Griswold’s receive one strike of bad luck after another, and when they finally arrive at Walley World, they have to find out that the park is closed for maintenance. But Clark promised his beloved family the best vacation ever.

I really like the Memorial Day weekend event. Even if they had this schedule on the weekends, I would be pleased with TVLand.

No new classic shows? That figures; enough with these stunts and new material. I though TVLand was trying to gain the attention of Baby Boomers. If they want to, bring back material from the 50s and 60s, and even 70s, and quit with 2007!

I agree that they need more variety to their schedule. These stunts are the same tired old shows. However, I doubt if they are interested in Baby Boomers. They are older than the usual 18-49 demos networks seek.

Anything new to report on the two shows expiring in June (Flip Wilson [I think, or was it July?] and Good Times), PB? I'm not really expecting for either to be renewed, but who knows. Just thought I'd ask.

03-14-2007, 03:10 PM
I doubt Flip Wilson will be renewed. Good Times has a chance. It is even having a night marathon (11p-3a) for two days in early June. I know it expires at the end of June, but it could be renewed.

All in the Family returns to the schedule and will air weekday mornings at 8, paired with The Jeffersons. And The Cosby Show returns as a regular in the overnight hours. Star Trek cut to just 4 times a week in its 5a and 6a slots. Everything else is just minor time changes.

Wow, I was finally getting used to this schedule, since we haven't seen many changes in awhile, but this schedule is probably worse. The Jeffersons being on an hour later is not a good thing, since by that time I'm just leaving for work. Plus, there is way to much of the same shows airing over and over. If I count correctly, it look slike Sanford and Sun are airing the most each week, with 5 episodes almost every day. Plus, why is Good Times al of the sudden getting all the attention? Why can't we get some good shows like All In the Family or The Jeffersons in primetime where they belong, instead of having 4 episodes in a row of MASH? Plus, Three's Company is now pushed back an hour later. Have the ratings for the show been slipping? I was really enjoying it back in primetime. Plus, It's nice to have the Cosby Show back, but that's too late for me.

It sure seems like I am doing a lot of complainging, again, but this network is just getting pushed in the wrong direction. I can honestly say I do not see one good thing about this schedule

Good Times was renewed so they can bulk up on the plays once again. It has always done well for them. Three's Company is doing fine, but M*A*S*H is doing great for them, and they decided to give us a two-hour block instead of breaking it up.

The Jeffersons didn't do well when it aired in primetime earlier this year. Nice to see them try What's Happening Now!! finally. Now if they can also try Ropers/Three's a Crowd, it would be great.

Sanford & Son has 5 airings, but only 3 new episodes. MASH and Andy have the most with 4 new episodes a day.

Overall, not a bad re-haul. I'm glad to see they didn't kill any shows with the new scheduling (especially "I Love Lucy"!) Although I think devoting 2 hours of primetime to "M*A*S*H*," even tho it's a good show,is a bit much

MASH and Andy have the most with 4 new episodes a day.As usuall,I must rant and rave.Frist, what is the purpose of putting on WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW!! if all they're going to do is show 12 episode?!?Why put on this lesser version of this serise anyway?!?Why not the original WHAT'S HAPPENING?!?This is brainless, and pointless just like the movies they're showing;the 1 kizillion showing of NATIONAL LAMPOON VACATION(Why twice in one month anyway;couldn't they find another farce to show on that date?!)And M*A*S*H as everyone should have known is being ran into the ground,as we should have expected. No trying to put on another show, just run the :cuss: out of this one. When is this madness coing to an end?!?

The Brady Bunch board has a mini "Brady" marathon for TV Land. I also heard that Gilligan's Island is coming back mid June. Details please.

There is no Brady marathon in May. That post was from 2000, lol...someone bumped it up. No Gilligan, again that post was from 2000.

Wow, all the shows that did well in prime time are the ones I'm tired (almost sick) of (MASH, Three's Company, Good Times). All the shows I enjoyed watching in prime time such as The Jeffersons and Andy, didn't do well. Well, Andy is on a few nights at 8. I wish they would have a more consistent schedule. Even if it means no Andy ever at 8pm, I'd rather have Good Times on every night at 8 than have it on some nights at 8 and Andy on some nights at 8. This is hard to keep up with. I'm sure, however, that TV Land has considered how difficult it is for some viewers to settle into a regular viewing pattern with this kind of schedule, when they make their programming decisions. I just know I don't like having to figure this stuff out all the time, and I don't feel I should have to own a DVR to keep up with it.

Looks like I will be watching mostly on the weekends now when Gunsmoke and Lucy are on.

TV Land Rules the Road With Memorial Day Roadtrips

TV Land Celebrates Memorial Day With A Fourteen-Hour Marathon on Monday, May 28

NEW YORK, May 22 -- Imagine the joy of a road trip without leaving the comfort of your own home -- no overheated cars, no flat tires and no getting ripped off at the pump. Beginning Monday, May 28 from 6:00am to 8:00pm (all times ET/PT), TV Land takes viewers on an excursion to cool and exotic places when the network presents Memorial Day Roadtrips, a fourteen- hour marathon of vacation episodes from the network's line-up, culminating with the hilarious pop culture hit movie, National Lampoon's Vacation. Join The Munsters for a frightful night of camping, the Ricardos and the Mertzes on their comedic cross-country journey to Hollywood, the Sanfords for some sun and surf in Hawaii and top off the day's adventures with The Griswolds at the famed Wally World Amusement Park.

The following is the schedule for Memorial Day Roadtrips (all times
ET/PT):
6a Bonanza #142 - A Journey Remembered
Ben looks back at his travels west with five year old Adam, Hoss
and Hoss's mother Inger. In flashbacks, we see his journey to Ash
Hollow where Hoss is born en route. They arrive in Ash Hollow only
to be attacked by an Indian avenging the death of one of their
braves.

7a The Munsters #16 - Grandpa's Call Of The Wild
While on a camping trip, Grandpa turns himself into a wolf but
forgets how to turn himself back.

7:30a The Munsters #56 - Heap Big Herman
On vacation, Herman is mistaken for the spirit Wanitoba by a tribe
of Indians.

8a Leave It To Beaver #52 - The Happy Weekend
Ward takes the family camping for the weekend at Shadow Lake. The
boys would rather stay home and watch the new movie "Jungle Fever",
but Ward insists they will all have fun camping. Ward becomes upset
with the boys when he learns that they left the campsite to go see
the movie after all.

8:30a Leave It To Beaver #195 - Untogetherness
Ward made reservations for the family vacation at their usual
lakeside cabin. This year Wally doesn't want to go because he wants
to stay with his girlfriend Lori Anne. He arranges to stay with
Eddie so he can be closer to Lori Anne, but at the last minute, she
tells him that she too has to go away with her family on vacation.

9a I Love Lucy #113 - Ethel's Home Town
The Ricardos and the Mertzes stop at Ethel's hometown of
Albuquerque, New Mexico. Under the impression that Ethel, not
Ricky, has been called to Hollywood by the movies, the townsfolk
accord her a monumental ovation. Lucy takes matters into her own
hands when Ethel refuses to disillusion them--and even goes so far
as to put on a "celebrity act."

9:30a I Love Lucy #114 - LA At Last
Arriving in Hollywood with stars in her eyes Lucy heads for a "The
Brown Derby" frequented by celebrities where she encounters Eve
Arden and William Holden. Her excitement at spotting Holden is
surpassed only by her anxiety later when Ricky introduces her
formally after she has presented Holden, inadvertently, with a
custard pie in the face.

10a I Love Lucy #128 - Lucy Visits Grauman's
With only a week left in Hollywood, Lucy weeps about her lack of
souvenirs. Her collection already includes a tin can run over by
Cary Grant's left rear tire, a napkin boasting Lana Turner's lip-
prints and a few other goodies; but when Lucy discovers John
Wayne's concrete block at Grauman's Chinese Theatre is loose she
decides to take home a souvenir to end all souvenirs.

10:30a I Love Lucy #131 - Ricky Sells The Car
Ricky sells the car and the Mertzes believe they are stranded in
California. Ricky buys train tickets for everyone but a mix-up in
reservations put Lucy in a comprising position with Fred Mertz.

11a Green Acres #91 - A Star Named Arnold Is Born pt. 1
After Arnold makes an appearance in the local community theater
production, Lisa helps him get an interview with an old friend who
is a Hollywood producer.

11:30a Green Acres #92 - A Star Named Arnold Is Born pt. 2
Oliver and Lisa chaperone Arnold's trip to Hollywood, where he
lands a starring role in a motion picture.

12p Bonanza #142 - A Journey Remembered

and Hoss's mother Inger. In flashbacks, we see his journey to Ash
Hollow where Hoss is born en route. They arrive in Ash Hollow only

with Helen is jolted when it appears in the Mayberry paper.
