I think the TV guide critic hit this right on the nose when he said-"The show's best moment is when the girls or Tony was singing and dancing and the low point of the show is when they were doing comedy sketches. I really agree with this and that's probably why the ratings FELL once the format was changed to comedy

Well, when I watched the show, I felt like Telma Hopkins got more of the spotlight than the other chick, which irritated me. So, I guess yeah, I hated the comedy sketches, for that reason. At least when they were singing, neither girl got more of the spotlight than the other.

That era was all abt variety shows, no one had to have the ability to be a comedic genius. If you are able to check out YouTube, you will see all kinds of celebs from the 70's appearing on variety shows doing all sorts of things, didn't mean it was funny, good, etc. but that was the thing back then.
