View Full Version : Maggie Gyllenhaal in Final Talks to Replace Holmes
Brian Damage 03-09-2007, 11:38 PM Maggie Gyllenhaal is in final talks to replace Katie Holmes in the Batman Begins sequel.
The new mom became an instant favorite to take on the Rachel Dawes character in The Dark Knight after Holmes quit the role shortly after becoming Mrs. Tom Cruise.
Director Christopher Nolan tells The Hollywood Reporter, "I'm extremely excited to work with an actress of Maggie's caliber, and she's a great addition to the cast."
Cameras will role on the film, which stars Christian Bale as the comic book hero, this spring. The film will be released in 2008.
catlover79 03-10-2007, 12:00 AM I'm glad Katie isn't returning to Batman. She and Christian Bale had absolutely NO chemistry. Hopefully Maggie can bring that certain spark to the movie.
Thank you Jesus! I love Maggie and I just can't stand Katie. Katie Holmes actually can act, but you'd never guess it to watch Batman Begins. Nobody wanted to see Katie back for the sequel.
Max Whittaker 03-10-2007, 02:39 AM And plus.... Maggie is pretty....
Katie quit the role? I doubt it. IMO, I don't think she was invited back.

:clap I think you're right on the money.
tdf4077 03-10-2007, 01:58 PM Thank god! Maggie can act and is pretty. Katie's kinda creepy IMO (probably too much time around her "husband")
Central Perk 03-10-2007, 05:48 PM I dislike recasting because it makes films less believable. I don't really want Katie back so her character could be killed off. Maggie could then play a new love interest.
Janice 03-10-2007, 06:43 PM I think Maggie's a good actress, but I don't think she's good looking. She has a nice figure, but her face is average, at best. Katie is pretty, in my opinion anyway.

I tend to agree, I think Maggie is fugly. I think her brother Jake is better looking than her. ;) I was really hoping for Rachel McAdams for the role. Ah well.

Rachel McAdams would be a good choice. Maggie would probably be better suited for the role of Harley Quinn. I think Christina Ricci would be another good choice for that character as well, but I doubt they'll even include Harley in the film.

I absolutely love that idea. Maggie would make a great Harley Quinn. In actuality, Jake Gyllenhaal would've made a better Joker than Heath Ledger.
I'm really surprized they are bringing back the character for the sequel.
In the previous Batman movies, the girl/love interest character was always different.
But I guess they have more territory they want to explore with the Bruce/Rachel relationship.
Actually, since Rachel knows that Bruce is Batman, it may make things more intersting.

I trust Christopher Nolan and think Heath Ledger will do well. I'm also interested to see Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent. I hope Nolan will include a couple more female characters as the story progresses. I wouldn't mind seeing Harley Quinn, Talia, or even Catwoman. I just think that it would be a mistake to introduce Batgirl or Robin. They would just make the series too campy, imo.

I don't exactly see Heath Ledger as the Joker either, but I'll withhold judgement until I actually see the movie. When is it supposed to come out, btw??

What I hope they DON'T do is kill off the Joker like they did in the first Batman franchise.

Rachel McAdams is one of my fav catresses, so I too think she woudla been better at the role than Maggie, she's hotter
LOL yeah either Jake Gyllenhaal as The Joker or Steve Carrell woudla been awesome
Maybe Jake can come in as another Joker and they can....oh wait they already made that movie.
