I just read on amazon.com, that there is a box set called: Jackie Gleason Collection. It is NOT made by MPI. Here's the link:

I've always wondered about this collection. Isn't a Frank Sinatra show with Gleason included as well? How many times did they appear on each others show?

I have this set. I was disappointed in everything BUT "The Frank Sinatra Show: Camping Sketch." (from 1950). It was the only reason I wouldn't return it. That sketch is hilarious!!!!!! It's about 35-40 minutes long...filled with some of Jackie's best lines & both men not being able to contain themselves (mostly Frank lol). Also perhaps a little edgy for 1950 TV ;). I also liked that all the original commercials where included (Bulova watches, CBS broadcasting company, druggist of America).

I'm not sure how often Jackie was on his show but in one of my Frank Sinatra books there's a few pictures of him & Jackie together & it says "Jackie was one of Frank's best friends as they shared a love for the same things -lots of women & lots of booze- & he enjoyed having him on his show many times. He was one of Franks favorite funnymen." All these pictures where taken in the early 50's (Jackie was pretty thin) so my guess is Jackie was on Franks early 50's show more times than his late 50's show.

Basically: The Camping Sketch alone is worth the $9.98.

Sounds almost like a ripoff job a la The Benny Hill Collection (which, needless to say, makes the Gleason set you mention more worth something for one's money in comparison, let me put it that way). I wonder though, is this "Passport Video" that put out this Gleason "collection" in any way related to the company or companies ("Screen Edge," "Easy Entertainment") that released that Hill DVD? I'd be curious . . .

Oh, and I'm apprised this Gleason "collection" also has the 1942 film Lady Gangster, with Faye Emerson . . . some fans are upset that Gigot isn't in there . . .

I also have this. I was very happy with the movie Lady Gangster. It was cool to see Jackie at such a young age, even if his part wasn't very big. The picture quality was amazing. I would recommend this set just for the movie itself. Besides, I think I only paid 5 or 6 bucks for it on ebay.

Check out Turner Classic Movies from time to time. They have both "Navy Blues" and "Larceny Inc" in their library, 2 of Gleason's earliest films. They air them occasionally. He made his screen debut in Navy Blues (1941), and plays a sailor named Tubby. I wonder why? In Larceny Inc, he plays an eavesdropping lunch counter man. This film also stars Edward G. Robinson.

This is 2 DVD set: a movie with Faye Emerson (The Lady Gangster , 1942) , a clip from Cavalcade of Stars featuring Victor Borge and an apparent complete episode of The Frank Sinatra Show, circa 1950, with guest star JG. Also trailers from a few of Gleason's other films. NO Honeymooners stuff, this is all leftover public domain material, nothing to get excited about, except if you are a true Gleason fan like I am

I know that this is an old thread but doesn’t anyone know if the Colgate Comedy Hour that Jackie hosted is on here?
