Well, I've never been married, but I loved the song my college roommate had at her wedding. "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. It was such a surprising choice, but it was a really great one. And everyone really applauded it. It's one everyone recognizes but you don't hear that often.

I'm not married, but if I ever do get married I would like the first song that my wife and I dance to to be either "Being With You" by Smokey Robinson or "More Than A Woman" by the Bee Gees.

Those are both great songs!! There are so many wonderful romantic songs out there; I can't decide which one to pick. I'd want to hash that out with future hubby. As for the father-daughter dance, I'd want "My Girl" by the Tempatations, and Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" for the bouquet toss. Hubby can pick the garter toss song. :D

And for the father/daughter dance, I really like the song Butterfly Kisses, but again it's wayyy overdone.

On a related note, what do you guys think about marching down the aisle to a song other than the wedding march? My friend used this gorgeous harp arrangement of Pachebel's Canon, and it was really lovely..

I've actually heard more weddings using Pachebel than the traditional wedding march. Sorry, I think that's way too overused. I'm totally in favor of using whatever music you want, but that one is very popular. My parents and my friend both used "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring" (Prince Charles & Diana had that one too). I was also in a wedding that used "Ode to Joy" which worked really well. I'm going to have "Air on G String" by Bach - it's my favorite piece ever written.

I would use "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" as the processional for the bridesmaids and groomsmen, then "Ode To Joy" as my entrance. Your choices are all good, too! :) I will agree that "Canon In D" is way overused in weddings, even though it is a beautiful piece of music.

well i've been married for 3 years now! and our song that we danced to was never had a dream come true by s club 7 :) and angel by shaggy but thats not our song s club one is mmm we danced to that song twice! it was very nice :)

I don't remember what the first dance of the bride & groom was at the last wedding I went to, but the cake cutting was done to James Taylor's version of How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You). Nice choice! :D
