I'm not married, but I'm curious. My sister & brother-in-law's first dance as a married couple was "For The First Time" by Kenny Loggins.

View Full Version : To our married folk: what was your first dance song as husband & wife?? catlover79 03-08-2007, 11:17 PM I'm not married, but I'm curious. My sister & brother-in-law's first dance as a married couple was "For The First Time" by Kenny Loggins. AB 03-09-2007, 12:06 AM Fannie Be Tender With My Love by the Bee Gees. My husband could only slow dance back in those days. Janice 03-09-2007, 12:27 AM Moon River. I've loved the song since I was a child. Brian Damage 03-09-2007, 12:32 AM My Baby You---Marc Anthony tdf4077 03-10-2007, 10:36 AM Well, it was either LoneStar's "Amazed" or Aeorosmith's "Don't Want to Miss a Thing." I don't remember which was our's and which was our's + the bridal party. Either way, I do remember that half way through the dance, he b-lined it to the bar and I finished the dance w/a couple of my friends :( lol! santaburger 03-17-2007, 10:11 PM Well, it was either LoneStar's "Amazed" or Aeorosmith's "Don't Want to Miss a Thing." Two of my favorite slow songs ever, so either way, you win :) Liza 03-17-2007, 11:05 PM Well, I've never been married, but I loved the song my college roommate had at her wedding. "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. It was such a surprising choice, but it was a really great one. And everyone really applauded it. It's one everyone recognizes but you don't hear that often. Nighthawk76 03-17-2007, 11:09 PM I'm not married, but if I ever do get married I would like the first song that my wife and I dance to to be either "Being With You" by Smokey Robinson or "More Than A Woman" by the Bee Gees. catlover79 03-17-2007, 11:29 PM I'm not married, but if I ever do get married I would like the first song that my wife and I dance to to be either "Being With You" by Smokey Robinson or "More Than A Woman" by the Bee Gees. Those are both great songs!! There are so many wonderful romantic songs out there; I can't decide which one to pick. I'd want to hash that out with future hubby. As for the father-daughter dance, I'd want "My Girl" by the Tempatations, and Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" for the bouquet toss. Hubby can pick the garter toss song. :D Brieannas21 03-18-2007, 12:49 AM "At Last" by Etta James santaburger 03-18-2007, 11:25 AM Well, I've never been married, but I loved the song my college roommate had at her wedding. "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. It was such a surprising choice, but it was a really great one. And everyone really applauded it. It's one everyone recognizes but you don't hear that often. That's another great choice... and you're right, it's well-known, but not too cliche. And it really is just a sweet, lovely song. I'm not married (and don't plan to be for a while...), but I'm a girl, so I think about this stuff. I've always had a soft spot for Edwin McCain songs (ie I'll Be), but I don't want to go with anything too cliche. And for the father/daughter dance, I really like the song Butterfly Kisses, but again it's wayyy overdone. On a related note, what do you guys think about marching down the aisle to a song other than the wedding march? My friend used this gorgeous harp arrangement of Pachebel's Canon, and it was really lovely.. Ok, I need to stop planning my future wedding now, hehehe... :) catlover79 03-18-2007, 12:40 PM For a wedding march, I'd like mine to be "Ode To Joy". And for the father/daughter dance, I really like the song Butterfly Kisses, but again it's wayyy overdone. The only daddy/daughter song I've heard overused recently is "Daddy's Little Girl." Very uncreative  I'm going to have to use "Holding" because my dad used to sing it to me when I was little :) We girls always plan our weddings! I've got mine all set. Just don't have a groom yet ;) On a related note, what do you guys think about marching down the aisle to a song other than the wedding march? My friend used this gorgeous harp arrangement of Pachebel's Canon, and it was really lovely.. I've actually heard more weddings using Pachebel than the traditional wedding march. Sorry, I think that's way too overused. I'm totally in favor of using whatever music you want, but that one is very popular. My parents and my friend both used "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring" (Prince Charles & Diana had that one too). I was also in a wedding that used "Ode to Joy" which worked really well. I'm going to have "Air on G String" by Bach - it's my favorite piece ever written. santaburger 03-18-2007, 08:47 PM We girls always plan our weddings! I've got mine all set. Just don't have a groom yet ;) Hahahaha, Amen to that! Oh well, we can always add the groom in when we figure all the other stuff out... hehe. And as for the wedding march song... guess I haven't been to many weddings lately (or actually *ever*), but most of the ones I've been to have played the traditional song. Guess we're just boring around here. For my own though, I'd definitely like to use something a little unique... though I guess I still have time to figure all that out. :) catlover79 03-18-2007, 11:00 PM The only daddy/daughter song I've heard overused recently is "Daddy's Little Girl." I would use "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" as the processional for the bridesmaids and groomsmen, then "Ode To Joy" as my entrance. Your choices are all good, too! :) I will agree that "Canon In D" is way overused in weddings, even though it is a beautiful piece of music. hippiechick60 03-19-2007, 06:54 PM well i've been married for 3 years now! and our song that we danced to was never had a dream come true by s club 7 :) and angel by shaggy but thats not our song s club one is mmm we danced to that song twice! it was very nice :) catlover79 11-17-2007, 01:27 AM I don't remember what the first dance of the bride & groom was at the last wedding I went to, but the cake cutting was done to James Taylor's version of How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You). Nice choice! :D |
