Think Global Warming is actually happening...It has been way hotter than it is now (its like 40 degrees) in March - its been like 112 degrees in february here in my city in kansas, before...NOT GLOBAL WARMING STUPIDS!

Whether or not Global Warming is happening, I don't know, but I do respect alot of the people who believe it is, simply for the fact that they have convictions, and they're trying to do something about it. Doing things to make this world a cleaner place, and to assure that the generations ahead of us will have a better quality of life, is a good thing, so I really can't put them down. I have alot more respect for them, than for someone who just sits on his ass, and refuses to do anything to make the world around them a better place!!

It's the natural cycle of the world. There were more cat 4 and 5 hurricanes from 1900 to 1950 than from 1951 to 2000 yet all the enviro-whackos are screaming that because of man-made pollution we're causing global-warming hence we're causing more massive hurricanes. Yet there was less cars, chemical plants, any type of production plant.....to cause as much pollution as there is being produced today. Also, all of these scientists that come up with a "consencous" about global warming is crap. They have no proof so they all e-mail each other back and forth and agree on who has the best theory. And also for some reason you never hear any of them go with the theory that maybe the sun is the cause for our planet warming up??? More solar flares?? The sun actually getting hotter?? Hell no they're not going to use that. There's no money involved in that.

SOME PEOPLE ARE JUST SO CLUELESS IT'S LAUGHABLE. NO, SAD REALLY.

LET'S FACE IT PEOPLE, WE ARE DESTROYING THE EARTH, LITTLE BY LITTLE.

TO THINK THE EARTH HAS NOT BEEN HARMED IN ANY WAY, AND NOT TO CARE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT MAKES ME THINK THESE ARE THE SAME PEOPLE WHO THROW THEIR MCDONALDS BAG OUT THE WINDOW. THEY THINK NOTHING OF IT, AND WAIT FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, BECAUSE IT'S NOT THEIR PROBLEM:mad:

CAN'T WE JUST CARE A LITTLE MORE ABOUT THIS BEAUTIFUL EARTH, OUR HOME?

I don't really know what to think on the issue, I think the media is overkilling it a bit too much, but it probably is somewhat important. It has been colder here this year then ever, though.

I believe global warming to be real. For those who don't believe, don't you think we should burn cleaner fuel or try to pollute less? I really don't see why people fight tooth and nail against global warming. I'm sure we'll see the benefits of less pollution and greater reliance on alternative energies. Go Green!

If you spent less time arguing against global warming and more time braking bad habits, lessening your impact on the world, and respecting the damage you cause, the world would be a better place, altogether.

Whether or not global warming if a fact, and whether or not we are the cause of it, you can't deny that we have had a negative effect on our environment. The measures scientists push for to slow climate change are in the best interest of everybody involved(not including corporations, perhaps). In the long run, it can drastically improve our future quality of life.

What baffles me is how people respond with such hostility toward those who would warn us of our deadly path, and how they can so actively shun attempts to correct our society. Lets suppose the alternatives are not yet practical(which they are). Why not invest more time and resources into making them more practical?

Lets assume climate change is, in fact a myth. The fact yet remains that our planet is suffering by our hands. I really don't care whether or not global warming is as they say it is. But I do care about the damage we undeniably are causing. We can go around and around on this all night. Hell! We can go around and around until we are ill! But that's not going to save us. We need action. We need a plan. We need to stop *****-footing around the problem that nobody can deny.

The questions are: What are you doing to make a positive change in our world? What can we do to change society. What have you done in the past six months? And what does the future look like for our children.

Or you could simply go about as you are. Denying and arguing, and not get a damn thing done.

Just because it's cold still doesn't mean global warming doesn't exist.

The term Global Warming is misleading. It would more accurately be called Global Change.

What's to discuss?? I think that global warming is being used as a scare tactic. It's as simple as that. If you don't want your time to be wasted, do something else with it other than posting on a message board.

And by the way....that 1966 VW that you're looking to buy.....that thing can't be too environmentally friendly!! You need to be looking into a hybrid if you're going to be preaching this stuff. Kinda like Al Gore.

Where is that, Hell, Kansas? 112 in February? I doubt that. It doesn't get to 112 much in the middle of August, let alone February.

I can't afford it.

As I said, I'm looking for something with good fuel efficiency. From what I've read, the bug is that. If I take care of the engine it should be even better.

For the $3,500 asking price for the VW, you could buy a '90s car (with a catalytic converter) with the same mpg as the VW. And MUCH better acceleration.

Seems to me that a catalytic converter is a simple device that should be fairly simple to add on. Not that I'm an expert of such things.

But please, feel free to lend you advice in that thread. I may not respect your politics, but I've always admired your car knowledge. And for once, I think I might need it.

Listen to yourself. You have to issue a disclaimer on Fleet's politics. How about simply thanking him. How would you like it if he kicked off his advice to you with, "I don't respect your politics but.." I get that a lot. "I can't believe I'm agreeing with Mr. Cranky but..". Sheesh.
