I once read on wikipedia.org a long time ago that this episode received critisism. The critisism is that out of the Classic 39, this is the only one that is NOT appropriate for the whole family (despite it being rated TV-G) being that it deals with gun shots being heard, hostage situations etc.

Do you think that this episode deserves this criticism? I think some other G-rated shows have had those same situations.

(By the way, since wikipedia.org is a free online encyclopedia that anyone can edit, the criticism information is no longer there the last time I checked.)

Does it deserve criticism? Absolutely not.
Having watched that episode with my six year old nephew & seeing him laugh through all of it tells me a lot. Sure there was guns, hostage situations & a few other little things BUT it was all funny. A touch of realism & a touch of comedy. Do hostage situations happen? Sadly yes. Do burglars squirt the hostage in the face with a water gun when the neighbor boy just happens to come back for it? NO! lol.
I'd rather see kids watching The Honeymooners then most of the cartoons out today.

Lesson number 1, never take a website seriously that doesn;t list the source of where the information came from. That wikipedia site is a JOKE
