View Full Version : Do you people like the CSIs and Law and Order type shows?
treeman 03-03-2007, 11:50 PM As your big fans of Unsolved mysteries?
Personally i can't stand those shows! But i love unsolved mysteries! I can't really get into them because most of the time they aren't true and find it more interesting if they are true stories!

AVERMAN 03-03-2007, 11:59 PM I hate them as well. It seems to be all that on TV nowadays. The only crime show I can stand is Blue Heelers (treeman would know the show) because they sort of incorporate humour into the storylines. Law and Order and CSI are so crap, I don't know why they had to make about 47 spinoff shows for each series. It's ridiculous.
Ireneparalegal 03-04-2007, 12:01 AM I don't even get what the difference is among them...why so many of each???

With CSI, as far as I know, the difference between each series is different actors, different cities, same bullsh*t storyline.

That's what I mean. I don't get it. That to me would be like King of Queens and then King of Greenwich Village, King of Bronx, etc.
hostedbyrobertstack 03-04-2007, 12:19 AM i hate those shows, and I hate how all of america watches them now, and thinks they are "into" crime shows. I also hate how it's on a&e now when I'm looking for cold case files or city confidential. I hate the camera stuff they do on that show, all weird, and the actors are horrible. It's not good.

Exactly.....Law and order ans CSI and the like are most of the time fictional. UM was real. True Crime. I myself like the facts mostly rather than the fiction.....
Ireneparalegal 03-04-2007, 12:25 AM I can't stand fictional crime shows. I need to have THE REAL THING.
peachysquirt21 03-04-2007, 01:12 AM The original CSI is an awsome show IMO. The other 2 I refuse to watch cause I dont think there needs to be 3 CSI shows. As for Law & Order, I never got into that show but do think it is ridiculous all the versions they have.

If your gonna make a crime show based on fiction, at least keep it somewhat realistic. CSI Miami is the most ridiculously unrealistic crime show I have ever watched. In one episode, David Caruso's character managed to spot a small hair sample from like 30 metres away with the naked eye, which happened to be the evidence that was needed to catch the guy. He also managed to get a confession out of someone by assumption, putting words into his mouth and having little or no evidence whatsoever. Whatever the suspect said was disregarded and Caruso basically painted his own picture of what happened with having practically nothing to go on, and then the suspect just confessed and basically confirmed Caruso's assumptions.
DarkDante 03-04-2007, 02:04 AM I used to watch a great deal of "L.A. LAW" back in the day but that was in my mind was basically a straight drama (although with a great backdrop of court cases) which is why it did so well. It had its basis in the courtroom but everyone still knew it was a drama which I think a lot of these new "true crime" shows straddle the line too greatly between fiction and the truth...you are all right in saying it has to be one or the other.
I do enjoy "Without A Trace" although I'll admit I've only seen the first season via the dvd set. I heard that the show really went downhill when again the producers decided to focus too much on the personal lives of the characters and less on the true crime aspect.
GoldenGirlsFan92 03-04-2007, 02:19 AM I don't like them, but I do like Without A Trace.
AVERMAN 03-04-2007, 02:57 AM Well somebody MUST like them if they keep making cheap knock-offs of these shows.

Totally agree with you. I only like the real thing.

 I'm glad i'm not the only one who saw the funny side to that quote. I like the real thing too. ;)
I don't care for CSI but I like Law & Order SVU, I like the characters in it, its
entertaining. I also like Unsolved Mysteries and 48 Hours. I think a person
can like a variety of shows. We'd be kind of dull if we all liked the exact same
thing, don't you think?
rerungirl 03-04-2007, 12:50 PM I watch CSI on occasion and, while it may not be an accurate depiction of most crime scene investigative units, I do think it's well written. I've been a fan of William Peterson's since "To Live and Die in LA" came out twenty years ago. He never had the screen career I expected him to, but it's nice to see he has found steady work on tv.
DarkDante 03-04-2007, 01:01 PM Crystaldawn apparently is well versed in the saying "ain't nothin' like the real thing" ;)

Oh yes another William Petersen fan here. That pretty much is why I watch CSI. When he leaves the show, I will not longer watch CSI. He makes that show & without him it is not the same.
LooksLikeCRicci 03-05-2007, 01:15 AM Mmm... William Petersen. :)

I'm glad that many agree with me.
If i'm watching any of these type shows I'll watch SVU too!
I thought i was different though but it's good to see others like me who love UM don't like all the other crime shows!
