It's time they cancel it, I found this season to be the weakest out of all of them.

The show's not the same without Jill Marie Jones.

Sadly to say this but this was the last season but I heard that they might be doing a spin-off show to Girlfriends with Mya and Donnell...

I for one am glad that it is being renewed for another season. Toni's absence it noted, but I do like the show without her.

I certainly hope this isn't the last season.

I can't wait for the premiere.
I'm wishing and hoping that Toni returns and Joan doesn't chase this man away.

hate to say this, but I didn't care for the season premiere last night. I didn't like how they had Joan & her current beau bickering back & forth & it seemed that the whole storyline was weak.

My sister thought is was boring. I must say I was disappointed that Toni didn't come knocking on someone's door.

I wish they would let Joan be happy!! Sheesh!

In all honesty, I couldn't care less about Toni right now. It would be nice to see her presence again but I am not losing sleep. The season premiere was okay or so so to me. Joan's cousin Melanie on "The Game" is the person that stole the show on her show Monday Night. For some reason, I am thinking that this will be the last season of "Girlfriends". Hopefully, there will be one more season but this could be the last. I must say that they should get applause for going this long.

Girlfriends was unexpectedly cancelled, as announced by CW-TV. The last 2 episodes, "What's Black-a-Lackin'?" and "Stand and Deliver" aired back-to-back on February 11 and they were not a 2-part episode. A series finale is in discussion.

NEW YORK - The CW's Monday night comedy series "Girlfriends," the longest-running live action comedy on network television, is ending after eight seasons, the show's creator announced on Thursday.

The series about three friends navigating life and love has been a linchpin of the CW's Monday night lineup, and was previously on UPN. Star Tracee Ellis Ross earned six consecutives NAACP Image Award nominations as best comic actress, winning once.

"Girlfriends" is the second-highest rated series with a predominantly black cast, behind "The Game." The only such show to produce more episodes was "The Cosby Show."

Mara Brock Akil, the show's creator, said in a statement that she was grateful to the "Girlfriends" audience, particularly black women, for seeking the series out each Monday.

Akil said she's in talks with the CW to put together a retrospective show about the series' history.

The show's return this season was in doubt, so much so that Akil wrote a final episode where
Ross' character Joan finally got a marriage proposal after some tough years for her love life.

According to the CW schedule, it has been renewed for an eighth season.
This Series is still going, boy 8 Seasons for a average Sit Com when a better show like Goode Behavior was funnier. This show a bit of a Yuppies show, rich snobs are not funny except Frasier.

Shows like Amos N Andy,Norm,Married With Children,Cheers,The Jeffersons,Frasier,Hangin With Mr Cooper,Steve Harvey Show,King Of Queens,The Parkers is.

I think that the time has come for the show to end. It has run its course.

There hasn't been a new episode since God knows when. I'd like to see one more season, but it has to be a whole lot better or else, that should be the end of it.

Neither a series finale nor a retrospective episode will happen for Girlfriends. A series finale would be too expensive and it is now too late to film a retrospective episode.

11. Girlfriends was canceled and didn’t get a proper finale.

The CW series starring Tracee Ellis Ross had 13 scripts completed before the strike began. The show was canceled mid-strike, giving Girlfriends no chance to wrap things up.
