I have read some people thread on here saying that rock is dead, Id like to know how, I still hear rock music all the time, 70s classic rock- 80s rock even 50s and 60s rock music, on the radio and in TV commercials and even alot of the music these new bands are playing that you hear on TV shows like the OC or smallville sounds alot like the music I have always listened to.

As long as the people who grew up on it and their kids who gew up listening to it are around I think rock music will be around :o

I think they mean when they say that rock is dead, they mean that somehow rock has lost its ability to captivate audiences like it once did, and now everyone is conceding the popularity of rap and hip-hop (which I don't get. ). It might be also the fault of the music industry to not take chances with more compelling or cutting edge rock, choosing instead to push and promote their "safe bets" in what's allready popular, such as "alternative-pop lite", NU-metal, pop-punk, the not-quite-metal, not-quite-post-grunge stuff like Nickelback and the spawn of Creed and Pearl Jam-my descendents. Rock can rebound if they look for new sounds and new faces. Metal, REAL metal has made a huge rebound in the past few years.
