An editor of fashion magazine Vogue is being blamed for Jennifer Hudson's widely criticized ensemble on the Oscars red carpet on Sunday.

Andre Leon Talley guided the new star through the awards season, helping style her for her major appearances after the success of Dreamgirls.

Hudson wore a brown Oscar De La Renta gown for the Academy Awards ceremony and added a metallic gold bolero jacket to walk the red carpet.

But the star was slammed for her appearance and admitted on the Today show that she would have selected a different outfit.

A source tells PageSix.com, "Jennifer was kind of sponsored by Talley and Vogue. Andre insisted she wear that hideous Oscar De La Renta dress with the awful, awful gold python bolero.

"Jennifer really didn't want to, and so (celebrity stylist) Jessica Paster got her a beautiful gold Roberto Cavalli (gown) custom-made. But when Andre found out, he went ballistic.

"Moments before she left for the show, there was a power struggle and Jennifer ended up putting his outfit on."

Although she didn't score on the red carpet, Hudson did take home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

It looks like there were some divas involved - but Jennifer was there when they designed that dress. That would have been the time to say - I hate the jacket, I don't like the color. Not after it's been made. I don't blame them for being upset by then.

Still, you couldn't pay me enough to put on that dress. I'd go home and put on my old prom dress before I'd wear that.

I thought the outfit itself wasn't all that terrible as long as she took off that gold jacket!

That outfit was so unflattering, probably the most unflattering attire of Oscar winner since Gwyneth Paltrow in '99.

I liked the dress. The jacket just didn't go. Honestly, I've seen way worse at award shows.

I agree. I don't like the boring brown color and without the jacket, it is still awful.

I dont see anything wrong with the dress, aside from that jacked thing. And the pockets. Which you wouldnt even notice if she didnt have her hands in them.

I just think the dress looks dated. I can so see Linda Evans wearing that on Dynasty 20 years ago, lol.

So damn true!!!!!!

Also, I believe that I read somewhere and I know for a fact that Brieannas mentioned here on the board that a black woman should never never ever wear gold clothing.
