what was wrong with carol? i mean why didnt she think any guy would like her? i thought she was pretty i bet she could get some guy she did but why were there episodes where she didnt think she was pretty and stuff?

Girls, even the pretty ones usually have low self-esteems or they're too self-conscious.

i think that it was a good thing for her character to have those self-doubts, it often brought along great moments between carol and mike (like jimmy durrant died for your sins - where carol wants to get a nose job and mike convinces her that she is pretty at the end of the episode). Like SBTB said, girls have doubts about themselves all of the time. Heck, i'm 21 and engaged and still have doubts about my appearances... i think it's programmed into us. But having carol go through this can often bring things into perspective for girls. Also, come on... she's got 2 brothers who pick on her constantly about her looks (especially mike... ben just follows until he gets older) and you have to wonder if the jokes said on screen were what got her started with anorexia again (tracey gold i am talking about now). But there was definately nothing wrong with her, just a normal part of life and ESPECIALLY the teenage years!
