View Full Version : HELP! What is wrong with Websleuths??
Big3sCompanyFan 02-27-2007, 07:02 PM I am posting this here because I had no where else to turn since I got no response.
I registered as a new user first with a free e-mail address and it didn't work but then I used my paid ISP e-mail address and it STILL WON'T LET me post eventhough I clicked on the validation link so my account is activated.
I contacted them for help but they don't even respond!!
What is going on??
Thanks
crystaldawn 03-02-2007, 10:32 PM Yes it takes an act of Congress to get registered over there. I don't know why they won't accept a free email address. I'm a member but have never posted. I had contacted the Administrator about a matter months ago and never received a reply so I'm not sure what to tell you. There is an email address on the main page of the owner so I would try and email her and maybe she will help you.
yolate 03-03-2007, 02:02 AM I've also tried twice to register over there. Both times I got an e-mail saying I didn't fit their membership requirements even though I don't have a free email address. Both times I wrote the administrator asking for an explanation and both times I got no response.
Tap Dancer 03-04-2007, 09:45 AM I'm an AOL member. I just signed up to see if I could and I was able to.
Edit: Oops, I didn't realize that even when you've validated your account and log in, you're still not able to post right away. I'm not sure if I'll be accepted either.
I joined this board because I can't register with WebSleuths either. I set up an account, validated it and got a message the next morning telling me I didn't fit their requirements too. I think I've messaged every mod and admin over there with no reply. It's frustrating isn't it?

LOL!! That is hilarious!
No one answered this thread for days after I started so I thought no one cared. Thanks for your responses.
I finally did get registered after trying 4 different e-mail addresses!! I got through using my paid e-mail address. (Not AOL)
I e-mailed that contact when you click for help. It says "mission" in their e-mail address.
That should work for all of you too but you have to keep trying and you should finally get in.
Tap Dancer 03-05-2007, 05:04 PM It's been almost 1½ days and I haven't heard anything. I wonder if they'll consider AOL as a free account? AOL is my ISP, so I do pay. I guess I don't care if I get accepted or not since I'm happy here. I'm glad you're finally in. :)
Tap Dancer 03-09-2007, 10:32 PM I still haven't gotten a reply from them. (Yes, I checked the spam folder.) :p
dynoguy88 03-09-2007, 11:09 PM I've tried several times to start an account over there but it won't let me so I feel your pain.
There's a great discussion about Nyleen Kay Marshall there and I wanted to join in and provide the link to the segment on YouTube but it's impossible to get on.
What's the deal? Why can't the e-mail addresses be free?

The only reason I joined there was so I could send the cousin of Nyleen's that mentioned Nancy Marshall's murder a pm asking her to post over here or give some more info. She never picked up the pm and when I pmed the administrator asking her if she could give the cousin my email address to contact me they never even replied.
Big3sCompanyFan 03-13-2007, 02:29 PM For some reason some sites just don't accept AOL. It is true that recently AOL doesn't charge for e-mail addresses but I think you had to have once been a paying AOL customer and then if you switch ISPs then you can still use your old AOL address for free.
I don't know if any of us can get a free AOL address now even if we've never been a paying customer.
I think there is actually a section or thread on Websleuths about people having registration problems so you could go there and read their suggestions for help.
nohwheregirl 05-24-2007, 01:37 PM I know this is an old thread, but I was able to register on Websleuths the other day. I couldn't use my hotmail account, but it did take my .edu account. You'd have to be affiliated with a school or university to get one if you don't have one already. My registry was confirmed overnight.
I couldn't get an account there either w/ my yahoo acc. I emailed the webmaster and got a response the next day. I've actually sent three emails back and forth w/ them. It seems they are picky because they have to be able to trace the isp (or some internet jargon) to the pc you are using if necessary. Yahoo, hotmail, stuff like that isn't traceable, but he told me that the ones that your internet provider supply you with when you get internet is usually okay to use. I still have yet to get an account yet, but I thought I would share this info with you, hope I helped!
