California? That's the main reason i like the california eps, Shirley was very SEXY. In Milwaukee she was a plain jane and had a dull looking hairstyle but she defintely turned everything around once she left Wisconsin

Yeah, in some of the early episodes she looked like Mo from the 3 Stoogies.
I think short hair was the main style for that era though.

Yes, it looked great because it was a little longer and had more waves and curl to it.

I noticed that her haircolor seemed lighter in the California episodes, kind of auburn.

Gotta disagree. I thought that Cindy Williams looked great with short and dark hair. Not many women can carry that look off and still look feminine. Shirley had an almost Audrey Hepburn-esque flair in the first few seasons.

I never disliked Shirley with longer hair, though. However, that mousy light brown color in the first two California seasons was horrendous and did nothing for her, and I wasn't a big fan of the auburn hair that she had for a while in Season 2 Milwaukee.

It seemed like she blossomed shortly after moving to California. New location, new life, new Shirley. LOL

Laverne was HARDER on the eye whenever she stood next to Shirley, especially during the CA years-LOL

Well, there is a five year age difference between Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams. It wasn't that noticeable in the early years of the show, but Penny Marshall's weight loss in the later years of the show made it more apparent, IMO.
