I was wondering what things would be like if the Keatons (and Skippy Handelman) lived in Hill Valley, of Back to the Future. I guess I like to compare the two, since MJF plays prominent characters in both.

How do you suppose the Keatons would feel about Doc Brown? Biff Tannen? Mr. Strickland? Douglas Needles? And, of course, the McFlys? About, would they really care about saving the clock tower?

I think Marty McFly and Alex Keaton would get along, not just because they look alike, but because they have a lot in common. Alex Keaton and Doc Brown are both very intelligent people - but Alex might drive Doc a little crazy, with always talking about economics. I see no reason why Marty wouldn't get along with Skippy. Alex might find Biff Tannen to be too mean-spirited, and the kind of person you would be embarrassed to have on your side. Alex might be one of the very few students who Mr. Strickland would not consider to be a "slacker". Mallory, on the other hand, most likely would be considered a "slacker". I wonder if Mallory might get along with Linda McFly or Jennifer Parker.

Anyway, what are your thoughts?

I'd like to think that Marty and Alex would get along, but I do think they might annoy each other sometimes. I don't think they'd be enemies, or that they'd hate each other, or anything, but Marty is very down-to-earth and pretty much a "normal" teenager - he's into music, and he doesn't always try his best in school. Alex, of course, is not really interested in modern music and works extremely hard in school. I think if they were friends, they'd probably find each other's interests quite strange, but manage to get along despite them. Alex might try to stop Marty from freaking out every time someone calls him chicken.

Alex and Doc - I think Alex would think Doc was very strange at first, but I can't see him disliking him, or being prejudiced against him. I think they'd probably get along well.

Marty and Skippy - like you, I see no reason why they shouldn't get along.

Alex and Mr Strickland - Strickland probably wouldn't consider Alex to be a slacker, but he might think him a bit pompous and arrogant, and that might annoy him.

Alex and Biff - I think the two of them would dislike each other intensely. Biff is the antithesis of both Marty and Alex.

Mallory and Jennifer Parker - I think these two would probably get along well. As for Mallory and Linda - well, the original Linda - before things changed around after Marty went back to 1955 - I don't think she'd have been great friends with Mallory. But the post-1955 Linda, I think may have been a friend of Mallory's.

There do seem to be quite a few differences between Marty and Alex, but I could still see them being best friends - or, at least, really good friends. I mean, they're both all-around friendly people who try to be nice to everyone - even if Alex does sometimes give his sisters a hard time, but he is obviously close to his family and loves his sisters a lot.

We don't know as much about Marty's family, except that they were all kinda "losers" in the original timeline - while they were all "cool" in the improved timeline. It does seem like Alex values his family a little more than Marty does - although Marty maybe values his family more in the improved timeline.

Anyway, Alex is good friends with Skippy - and Skippy is a bit of a misfit, and not as intelligent as Alex. Marty and Doc are best friends - and Doc seems to be a bit of a misfit, as well. Also, Marty and Doc don't really seem to have that much in common. Marty is more into music, while Doc is more into science.

Alex's friendship with Skippy is also somewhat comparable to Marty's friendship with George - even though Marty kinda had to be friends with George, in order to get his parents to fall in love and prevent himself from being erased from existence. Still, even if 17-year-old Marty was native to 1955 - and George wasn't his father - I could still see Marty being friendly to George.

I think Marty and Mallory would get along. Sure, Mallory would be freaked out over Marty looking like Alex, but they both like rock music and can find common ground there.
