The topic of hair has been all over the new this week and I don't think I need to say why...;) But I think it would be fun if we discussed OUR bad 'dos.

When I was a senior in high school I chopped off my long brown hair so I would look like Lea Thompson on Caroline in the City when she had that crop cut. What looked so great on her looked horrible on me. Then it started to grow more up than down. My hair looked like a helmet!!! AAAAAAH!!!

10 years later my hair is now more than halfway down my back (I want to get it waist length then I'll stop there) and now dyed a honey blond. I get so many compliments on my hair now, people will even just reach out and touch it. So I will NEVER go for a crop cut again!!!

Getting a perm in 1995 (8th grade) was probably the worst thing I ever did! The curls came out too tight, so I looked like a poodle...I had bangs back then too, so it looked even more awful! I hated how I looked so much, that I cut my 8th grade yearbook picture out! LOL.

One of the worst experiences of my entire life happened on the day before Christmas Eve, 1995. I went to the salon to have my hair colored and highlighted. It was a busy Saturday afternoon, a holiday weekend, so the salon was very busy.

The stylist put the highlighting cap on me, pulled the hair out to be highlighed, put the bleach on and sat me under a hairdryer for a long time. The result...all the hair that was outside the cap burned or broke off. I lost probably close to half my hair. Some of the hair inside the cap broke off too. My right side was just about a wiffle. I looked like a chemo patient.

Fortunately, the hair around my temples was in place, so I bought some very nice headbands, and I was able to bluff it. Hillary Clinton was First Lady then, and she was into headbands, so at least I was in style, lol. My hair didn't grow back fully until the following September. It was a very traumatizing experience. Just writing that out gave me the chills.

Wow, that's a horrible story. Did they refund your money, did you sue?

I actually paid. Oddly enough, the stylist managed to blow dry it, so it was fluffed up, but I knew my hair was weird, as in half of it's gone. She HAD to know. It think it was a combination of using too strong of a bleach and leaving it on too long because she was so busy. I remember driving home, and I was feeling what was left of my hair. Ran home, and saw the damage...on top, it was flat, with bald spots. I was screaming in tears...called Lou, my mother. Called the salon, yelling. They never cashed my check.

I called a couple of lawyers, but I was told I had no recourse. I remember telling them this isn't a bad haircut we're talking about. The day after it happened was Christmas Eve, and I didn't leave the house.

I haven't committed any hair faux pas lately, since I have a scarcity of hair!:( :D

(I'm follicly challenged, if you know what I mean)

 YES!! My sister and I both got perms around 1991 and there are pictures of the 2 of us just after we got them. Bangs curled and everything. The works. We looked like poodles. But almost 16 years later, I still have a lot of wave and curl in my hair that originated from that perm...go figure!! :D

In middle school I shaved the back of my head and cut the top really short. It took forever for my hair to grow back past my shoulders.

When I was a kid, my mom had this thing about putting curlers in my hair at night, when my hair was still wet, then taking them out in the morning before school. She did this all the time. Thus, my hair would be poofy after it was brushed out and it did not look good!! I don't know how my mom ever thought it looked good. So this really wasn't my doing. And my mom had to use those hard curlers, too. You think she could've used the spongy ones, but NOOOO!! Anybody ever try sleeping with those hard curlers in? If I ever have a daughter, I would never put her though that.

Yes, I am also in the mix of having a curly perm. I had a professional perm done right before my Quinceañera (Mexican Sweet 15), and I have the professional studio photos to prove it as well!  I really wanted to get a perm (gee...what was I thinking? Oh, yeah...being a young teen!), and I had it done. Yeesh....that curly style with curly bangs...Wow...

Oh god, yes. lol I had a perm in second and fourth grades too. Eeeeeeeek!!!!! My second-grade perm had me with curly bangs too (this was 1992), but my fourth-grade perm had no bangs beacuse, well, I cut off my own bangs.

Now if I want curly hair, I just scrunch my hair and then blow-dry, since I have naturally curly hair. (You wouldn't know it looking at me though, because I straighten my hair all the time.)

My worst hair faux pas was frosting my hair white in the 80's. My nephew said I looked like his granny. lol!

Urg, last year I cut my hair kind of on the short side and I had weird bangs. It looked kind of odd on me.

i made the mistake of getting my hair highlighted a year and a half ago. it fried my hair like no other and the color looked horrible. i lost a lot of hair too because of the bleach. and to top it off, the bleach still hasn't completely left my hair.

when i was younger, my hair was frizzy. REALLY frizzy. it was just one giant poof ball. lol. so that was pretty horrible. i never did anything with my hair back then and i had bangs, that were just as poofy. so my face got lost in my hair. lol.
